    Job Description

    COMSOL is seeking an Applications Engineer with expertise inelectromagnetics to join its Pre-sales and Applications team towork with pre-sales and post-sales support of users of theCOMSOL software.

    As a successful applicant, you are expected to have a well-rounded education within an engineering or scientific disciplineand some experience with understanding or simulating technicalapplications. On this basis, you will be expected to developyour technical proficiency in new areas of science andengineering as you help COMSOL's users simulate their futureinnovations and ideas.

    Responsibilities:

    Pre-Sales Leads Qualification and Prospect Support


    • Demonstrate the building of clear and understandablesimulation examples for prospective customers on simulationsof their applications, primarily in the field of electromagnetics.


    • Support prospective customers on the modeling of theirapplications with COMSOL Multiphysics.


    • Demonstrate use of the COMSOL software andsummarize its features in web-based workshops and othermarketing and sales events, along with customer meetings.


    • A willingness and ability to travel for limited periods oftime to current and potential customers in order to runCOMSOL-sponsored events and activities all over India. Sellproducts or services typically use a two-pronged approach togenerating sales and revenues.

    Post-Sales Technical Support


    • Support customers on the use of the COMSOL softwarefor their electromagnetics-based applications, along with avariety of multiphysics applications involving other engineeringand scientific disciplines.


    • Initiate and participate in subsequent sales opportunitiesto existing customers or colleagues and other departments ofexisting customers.

    Training and Mentoring


    • Develop your technical and simulation knowledge andabilities through working with sales and support cases bothindependently and in cooperation with other sales andapplications engineers.


    • Develop and mentor new applications engineers, technicalaccount managers, and sales engineers on the COMSOLsoftware and its uses in certain application areas.

    Minimum Qualifications


    • A master's degree in engineering or physical science withsix months or more experience in low-frequencyelectromagnetics modeling techniques. An understanding andcoursework experience with Maxwell's equations, modelling,and analysis of electrical machines such as motors, generators,and transformers.


    • Excellent communication skills on the phone, in person,and in writing.


    • Current eligibility to work in India.

    Preferred Qualifications


    • A master's or higher degree in engineering with sixmonths or more experience in modeling based on numericalmethods, such as FEM, BEM, or similar, that have been gained as part of project work at a commercial company, governmentresearch facility, or university.


    • Strong background in electromagnetics with a deepunderstanding of Maxwell's equations and the physicalmechanism behind the phenomenon. Experience with numericalmethods and electromagnetics modeling in one or more of thefollowing applications: generators and motors (such aspermanent magnet motors (PMMs), Induction motors, SwitchedReluctance Motors (SRMs), Axial flux motors, Linear inductionmotors, etc.), electromechanical devices (such as solenoidplungers, electrical contactors, relays, circuit breaker release,etc.), transformers (such as power transformers,instrumentation transformers, high-frequency transformersetc.)

    Personal growth

    Supporting your success in your role as an ApplicationsEngineer will be other simulation engineers and softwaredevelopers who occupy the top echelons of their areas ofexpertise.

    You will see and participate, on a daily basis, in thedevelopment and operation of many and varied cutting-edgenew technologies.

    As an applications engineer, you will workwith some of the most preeminent engineers and scientists intheir respective fields who are simulating innovations and ideasfor the future.
