We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior DBA with extensive expertise in SQL DBA.RELEVANCE & IMPACTThe Database Administrator is directly responsible for integrity and security of data for our clients.
Ensuring databases are running at their peak performance allows our clients to have the most up to date information when they need it, where they need it, in order to make the most accurate decisions possible.
Communicating with the client when there is an issue is the highest priority, so the client knows when their data might not be at it's best.
Your ability to work closely with the team will allow us to keep each other on the same page and to motivate each other to continue to improve.
The ability to work without supervision will ensure we maintain our high quality service to the clients while allowing the team their turn to train and improve the team as a whole.
RESPONSIBILITIESReporting to the Associate Director of Database, you will:
Deliver Excellent Customer ServiceAddressing automated alerts, failures, incidents and client requests as they come inCommunicate clearly and efficiently to clientsDocument and detail the work, performed in tasksBe an individual contributor in the DBA teamActively work to improve the service by automation and identifying ways to improve upon our processesSupport your teammates in achieving team goalsConsistently work to improve your knowledge of Data technologiesAdvanced DB WorkInstall, Configure, patch and migration Microsoft SQL Server instances.
Advance to expert level of experience in designing, implementing, troubleshooing and fixing all available HA/DR topologies in SQL Server including Log shipping, Transactional Replication, AlwaysOn availability groups and failover clusteringFacilitate brainstorming meetings with clients to review, analyse, and assess business systems and needsActively handle database backup and recovery methods, database access security and integrity, physical data storage design, and data storage administration.
Create, change, and improve SQL Server Agent tasks and maintenance plansProactively monitor SQL Server maintenance tasks, troubleshoot failed processes, and address issues as soon as possibleHands-on experience writing and optimizing TSQLExperience handling databases which participate in both replication and always on together.
Create reports, monitoring, and alerts to better support our clientsTroubleshoot and resolve server, DB and query performance issues, application sluggishnessUnderstand and fix anti-best practices in DB design.
Experience in working on VLDBsHands-on experience with Database Partitioning, Data CompressionExperience implementing Resource GovernorExperience implementing, troubleshooting and fixing CDCREQUIREMENTSApplicants must possess:5+ years of MS SQL
Server experienceGood to have PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Azure SQL DB, AWS RDS administration experienceExtensive experience in designing, implementing, troubleshooting and fixing various HA/DR topologies with special focus on Transactional Replication and Alwayson Availability groups.
Hands-on experience writing and optimizing TSQLRelated formal database education or DBA certificationExcellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skillsStrong analytical and problem solving skillsStrong understanding of database platforms in an enterprise infrastructure with the ability to utilize database administration toolsThe strongest candidates will also have:
Industry certifications (MCSA, MCSE, DP-300)Ability to meet stringent deadlines and handle multiple tasksFamiliar with Change Management and ITIL processesAbility to provide timely and informative follow-up to end-usersAbility to efficiently prioritize and organize competing work demands with little oversight
