What's the opportunity

• The Lead Database Administrator will work in the product Engineering team of Zenoti. We are seeking a highly skilled SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) with experience in both AWS & Azure Cloud environments to manage and optimize database instances. Looking for an expertise in cloud database architecture, performance tuning, security, backups, and troubleshooting within our cloud infrastructure. This role involves supporting critical database systems, ensuring high availability, and maintaining optimal performance for various database technologies hosted in the cloud.

What will I be doing

• Work in multi-technology environments managing MSSQL, MongoDB and PostgreSQL database instances in our mission-critical Production systems.
• Configure database servers and monitoring of system performance to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.
• Independently analyse, solve, and correct issues in real time providing problem resolution end-to-end.
• Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes
• Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement.
• Provide 24x7 on-call support for critical production systems during outages.
• Support scheduled maintenance and release deployment activities
• Share domain and technical expertise, providing technical mentorship and cross-training to other peers and team members.

What skills do I need

• 9+ years of experience in SQL Server Administration, including at least 2-3 years in AWS or Azure cloud environments.
• Strong experience with SQL Server versions , Azure SQL Database, and Azure SQL Managed Instance.
• Proficiency in SQL Server performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting.
• Expertise of MongoDB, PostgreSQL and Linux systems hosted in Production environments2
• Administer, configure, and maintain SQL Server Instances in Production environments
• Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize code to enhance performance in the cloud environment.
• Implement security policies and best practices to ensure data protection, encryption, access controls, and compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
• Design backup and recovery strategies for SQL Server databases, ensuring disaster recovery plans are in place and regularly tested in the cloud infrastructure.
• Set up high availability solutions including Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, and Cloud-native services
• Manage SQL Server updates and patches ensuring minimal disruption and compatibility with cloud-based systems.
• Work with various services in both AWS and Azure cloud environments to manage and automate database operations.
• Develop and implement automation scripts for regular maintenance tasks, performance monitoring, backups, and reporting using PowerShell, T-SQL, and Cloud infrastructure Automation.
• Use various monitoring tools and third-party solutions to monitor Instance health checks, resolve issues, and respond to alerts in a timely manner.
• Work closely with development teams to troubleshoot issues and ensure effective communication across teams.
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for database configurations, procedures, policies, and best practices in the Cloud environment.
• Expertise in setting up and managing high availability solutions like Always On Availability Groups and SQL Server Failover Clustering.
• In-depth knowledge of various cloud services and tools (AWS Cloud watch, CloudTrail, S3, Azure Monitor, Azure Security Center, etc.).
• Scripting skills in PowerShell, T-SQL, or Azure Automation for managing and automating tasks.
• Familiarity with compliance, security standards (GDPR, HIPAA, etc.), and data privacy regulations.
• Experience in working with Windows server and any relevant certifications will be an added advantage
• Experience in database migration and hybrid cloud environments.
