    The role of a Database administrator within Nextgen is to build database systems of high availability and minimal downtime, build datawareshouse and maintain data management.

    Excellent knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, integrity and SQL. You will be part of an exciting

    new team that are building the platform for our future. Upgrading our systems to be based on Open Source technologies that are proven in the industry and that will support our Big data requirementKey Responsibilities

    Development and Improvement of System

    Proven working experience as a Database AdministratorHands-on experience with database standards and end user applicationsFamiliarity with database design, documentation and codingPrevious experience with DBA case tools (frontend/backend) and third party toolsFamiliarity with programming languages APIProblem solving skills and ability to think algorithmicallyBS degree in a computer discipline or relevant certificationDesign and implement database in accordance to end users information needs and viewsDefine users and enable data distribution to the right user, in appropriate format and in a timely mannerUse high-speed transaction recovery techniques and backup dataMinimise database downtime and manage parameters to provide fast query responsesProvide proactive and reactive data management support and training to usersDetermine, enforce and document database policies, procedures and standardsPerform tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy and integrityMonitor database performance, implement changes and apply new patches and versions when required

    Report to Leadership & Support Users

    Provide though leadership and dependable delivery skills in a fast-moving environment focused on rapid iteration and regular product updates.
    Help shape the direction of both our internal and external customer-facing products.

    Liaise with internal stakeholders to understand business requirements and inform process to deliver functional specifications and estimates on required work to customers.

    Work with the business users and business analysts to produce detailed technical designs for required systems development.
    Comply with change control, source control and configuration management tools and practices.
    Follow and promote software development best practices and maintain the highest quality of delivered software.
