    Description

    Position Summary:

    The Physical and Health Education (PHE) Teacher is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive PHE curriculum that aligns with the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework and the school's educational objectives. This position involves fostering students' physical fitness, well-being, and personal development through a variety of physical activities, sports, and health education programs.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Develop and deliver engaging and age-appropriate PHE lessons that promote physical literacy, teamwork, and healthy lifestyle habits.

    2. Design and implement a curriculum that integrates the IB Learner Profile attributes, promoting international-mindedness, and holistic development.

    3. Assess students' physical abilities, progress, and understanding of PHE concepts through formative and summative assessments.

    4. Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages participation, cooperation, and respect for others.

    5. Plan and organize extracurricular sports activities, intramural competitions, and school-wide events to enhance students' athletic skills and school spirit.

    6. Collaborate with classroom teachers and other specialists to integrate PHE concepts into interdisciplinary units of inquiry.

    7. Incorporate technology and multimedia resources to enhance teaching and learning experiences in PHE.

    8. Provide guidance and support to students in setting personal fitness goals and developing lifelong habits for physical well-being.

    9. Implement safety protocols and procedures during PHE activities and ensure the proper use of equipment and facilities.

    10. Communicate regularly with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress, achievements, and areas for improvement.

    11. Participate in professional development opportunities to stay updated on best practices in PHE education and IB curriculum requirements.

    12. Serve as a positive role model for students, demonstrating enthusiasm for physical activity, sportsmanship, and healthy living.

    13. Collaborate with the school's leadership team to support the overall mission and goals of the school community.

    Qualifications:

    1. Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, or related field; master's degree preferred.

    2. Previous experience teaching PHE in an IB or international school setting is preferred.

    3. Strong knowledge of child development, pedagogy, and curriculum design in PHE.

    4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students of diverse backgrounds and abilities.

    5. Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of individual learners and promote inclusive practices.

    6. Organizational skills and attention to detail in planning and implementing PHE lessons and activities.

    7. Current CPR and First Aid certification (preferred)
