    Description
    [What the role is]
    The successful candidate will be part of dynamic team of researchers under the Research Programme in the Study of Muslim Communities of Success (RPCS) and the Higher Education and Research Cluster.

    This role will focus on setting up and managing the technological infrastructure and physical running of our new academic library at the upcoming Bencoolen campus and the development of the RPCS Digital Repository. The successful candidate will work closely with various stakeholders to ensure the seamless integration of library systems, providing a modern and efficient environment for information retrieval and management.

    He/she may also be required to undertake roles in research administration and support planning and execution of academic/research-related events conducted by RPCS and/or its co-organisers/stakeholders.

    [What you will be working on]

  • Integrated Library System (ILS) : Lead the selection, implementation, and customization of an ILS to manage cataloging, acquisitions, circulation, and other core library functions.
  • Digital Asset Management : Develop and implement a digital asset management system to organize and provide access to digital resources, including e-books, journals, and multimedia materials.
  • Database Management : Manage and maintain library databases, ensuring data accuracy, security, and accessibility.
  • Collaboration with IT Department : Collaborate with the IT department to ensure seamless integration of library systems with the overall institutional IT infrastructure.
  • Contribute to the development of the RPCS Digital Repository and library portal, including management of junior researchers for digitisation of reference materials and collaborating with other relevant strategic units for the project.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders (internal and external agencies or academics) in delivery of the research project.
  • Support in organising and reporting of seminars, conferences and roundtable discussions
  • [What we are looking for]

  • Postgraduate degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) is preferred for academic library position.
  • Proven experience in setting up and managing library systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of Integrated Library Systems and digital library technologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Interest in socio-political and socio-religious issues of Muslim communities will be an advantage.
  • Ability to support research work in RPCS digital repository including identification and sourcing of materials and providing synopsis and analytical write-ups.
  • Computer Literacy (preferred but not pre-requisite): MS Office Suite (especially Word and Excel), Canva, InDesign (Adobe) and Photoshop Illustrator. Additional training for use of software can be provided.
  • Successful candidate will be appointed on contract basis.
