    Overall Purpose of the Role

    Summary of the role – main purpose for the existence of the role

    Responsible for overall general accounting activities, record-to-report for DTC/HBO APAC.

    Duties to include support and assist all accounting aspect relating to programming, original production, content licensing and reporting. As well as general ledger stewardship, month end close support, review of all financial statements and footnotes / disclosures.

    MAJOR ACTIVITIES

    Acquired Programming and Original Production

    • Review the computation of programming license fees
    • Review programming payments to studios
    • Review and post journal entries
    • Review/ resolve I/C variance
    • Review and ensure acquired programs and in-house/outsourced original production cost are timely and accurately recognized and amortized.
    • Review and ensure payments to studio and production house are processed timely and accurately.
    • Collaborate with production team to ensure productions comply with government funding requirements.
    • Review production cost reports and work in collaboration with the Production team, Production House and Government funding officers on Original Production matters.
    • Support government funding audit.
    • Ensure content licensing revenue and cost related to co-produced originals are accrued accurately and paid timely.
    • Review acquired programs and original production agreements and cost reports.

    General Accounting

    • Oversee day-to-day accounting activities, include record-to-report activities for film cost recognition and amortization, subscription and content licensing revenue, intercompany transactions, OPEX, treasury activities, taxes, etc. of HBO APAC entities
    • Responsible and manage month end close processes and deliverables
    • Review of balance sheet reconciliations and quarterly balance sheet footnote disclosures
    • Maintain effective internal controls, ensuring controls are SOX compliant
    • Review month end, quarter end and annual internal and external reporting deliverables
    • Review monthly P&L and Balance Sheet flux explanation
    • Compute quarterly provisions for doubtful debt
    • Assist in transfer pricing calculations.
    • Manage intercompany transaction disputes and confirmation.
    • Manage stakeholder's enquiries.
    • Support internal and external audit request.
    • Work in collaboration with Finance, Business, LOB, GBS on cross divisional initiatives.

    Staff Management

    • Develop staff into mature financial advisors with a customer service orientation toward Finance, LOB, and Business Unit groups with whom there is regular interaction

    Projects

    • Drive and manage continuous process improvements and develop automation of daily/monthly standard tasks accounting processes and workflows.
    • Participate and support global transformation project to move from various legacy ERP systems into one consolidated system.
    • Make recommendations on process improvements and standardization to gain greater efficiency and effectiveness within the region.
    • Support S4 migration
    • Lead projects, include FX revaluation, Cadency reconciliation project

    Selection criteria

    Essential:

    • Fully qualified Accountant – CA/ CPA
    • Strong technical experience including experience of month end management accounting for revenue and cost
    • US GAAP reporting and SOX experience
    • Experience of multi-site and multi-currency reporting
    • Minimum -10 years of experience in accounting
    • High level interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
    • Fluent in English

    Desirable:

    • Experience of leading teams through significant periods of change as well as steady state
    • Experience in Integrated finance applications/information systems e.g. SAP, Peoplesoft, Oracle
    • Experience working with outsourced financial functions
