Job Title: Data Engineer – Power BI

Experience: 7+ years

Role Summary:

As a Data Engineer specialising in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Insights and Power BI, you will play the role as a developer and an analyst. Your primary responsibility will be to develop, manage, and optimize our Microsoft Customer Insights platform, ensuring it effectively captures and analyzes customer data. Additionally, you will utilize Power BI to create insightful, data-driven reports and semantic models that inform our business strategies and enhance customer engagement. This role requires a unique blend of technical expertise, analytical thinking, and a deep understanding of our customers' needs.

Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Data Analytics, Information Technology, or a related field.

- Expertise in SQL, Microsoft Synapse analytics, Power BI

- Strong experience with Azure data services, particularly Azure Synapse, and Azure Data Factory.

- Proven experience as a Data Analyst or similar role, with specific experience in Power BI.

- Relevant Microsoft certifications

- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyse, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.

- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex data in a clear and concise manner.

- A self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Previous experience in a retail environment is highly regarded.

Mandatory Toolset Experience:

- Power BI & Semantic Modelling, DAX

- Azure Data stack – Synapse Analytics (Dedicated and Serverless Pool)

- T-SQL

- Azure Data Factory, Azure Functions, Pyspark, Azure DevOps

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Insights Platform Development and Management:

- Configure and customise Customer Insights platform to align with company-specific business processes and KPIs.

- Collaborate stakeholders to integrate Customer Insights platform with data sources.

- Manage user access, security, and data governance protocols in adherence to company policies and regulations.

Azure Data Engineering:

- Design, implement and maintain data pipelines to ingest data from various sources (CRM, transactional systems, etc.) into Dynamics 365 Customer Insights and our Azure Synapse and MS Fabric

- Design, develop and maintain scalable API-based data pipelines in Azure using Data Factory, Synapse, and pyspark to ingest, transform and integrate data from diverse external systems into data platform

- Develop and maintain scalable data architecture and optimized data models to enable efficient storage, integration and analytics

- Ensure data quality, consistency, and integrity throughout the data lifecycle.

Data Analysis and Insight Generation:

- Conduct in-depth analysis of customer data within Customer Insights platform and other integrated sources as direct by marketing and product teams.

- Identify trends, patterns, and anomalies that shed light on customer behaviour, preferences, and buying journeys.

- Develop and deliver compelling insights and recommendations to marketing, and product teams to optimize customer acquisition, retention, and engagement strategies.

Power BI Visualization and Reporting:

- Create insightful Power BI reports, semantic models and dashboards that effectively communicate KPIs, trends, and analysis results to stakeholders across various levels.

- Master DAX calculations and advanced Power BI functions to build complex models.

- Ensure reports provide actionable insights and are visually engaging, interactive, and user-friendly.

- Design data refresh schedules and implement a robust data quality assurance process.

Collaboration and Best Practices:

- Proactively collaborate with business groups to understand their analysis needs and translate them into effective solutions using Customer Insights and Power BI.

- Stay informed of the latest developments in Dynamics 365 Customer Insights and Power BI and explore new features for potential application.

- Train users on the Customer Insights platform and Power BI reports to promote data-driven decision-making across the organization.
