Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Skill in the use and operation of tools and machinery used in automotive repair, painting, body work, and equipment; in cutting glass and repairing seats and upholstery; and in preparing metal and other surfaces for painting.
Knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and techniques used in repairing light and heavy-duty vehicles; of the operating principles of gasoline and diesel engines; of mechanical repair of heavy- duty trucks and construction equipment; of safety precautions; of the principles, methods, materials, and tools used in automotive painting and body repair; and of departmental policies and procedures.
Ability to diagnose defects in automotive equipment; to adapt available tools and repair parts to specific problems; to understand and follow oral and written instructions; to interpret and work from sketches and pencil drawings; and to maintain the physical stamina necessary to perform heavy manual labor.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software, and Automotive Diagnostic software.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and over 3 year's satisfactory full-time paid employment in a commercial maintenance mechanic position.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers and employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, of diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
