As an Academic Counsellor, you will play a critical role in providing guidance and support to students, helping them navigate the challenges of higher education and ensuring their success both academically and personally.

You will be part of a supportive and dynamic team, working towards the common goal of nurturing and empowering the next generation of leaders in their respective fields.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing one-on-one academic counselling to students, helping them explore their interests, set academic goals, and develop effective study habits.
  • Assisting students in course selections, program planning, and academic support services, ensuring they meet the requirements for graduation.
  • Monitoring and evaluating students' academic progress, identifying areas of improvement, and implementing intervention strategies as needed.
  • Collaborating with faculty, administration, and other support services to address individual student needs and provide a holistic approach to academic success.
  • Leading workshops, seminars, and group counselling sessions on topics such as time management, study skills, and stress management.
  • Maintaining accurate records of student interactions, academic plans, and progress reports, and providing regular updates to university leadership and relevant stakeholders.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A Bachelor's degree in education, counselling, psychology, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Proven experience in academic advising, counselling, or a related field in an educational setting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent communication and problemsolving skills, with a focus on studentcentered support.
  • Knowledge of academic policies, curriculum requirements, and university resources.
  • Familiarity with relevant software and student information systems.
