    Default job background
    Description

The Times Of India's Metro Supplements (Delhi Times, Bombay Times, Bangalore Times...) – the 'TIMS' – are building an insight/opinion team to add a layer of analysis, data crunching, research and opinion to the current content mix.

For this, we are looking to hire desk, design and feature writing resources who can bridge the gap between conventional features/entertainment content and the space of editorializing, data dissection, trendspotting and going beyond the obvious.

Team members will be expected to have impeccable language skills, a comfort level with the features space – cinema, OTT, TV, fitness, fashion, relationships – and the aptitude and skill to treat these topics in a deeper, well-researched, layered manner, with reference to international trends, consumer behavior, comparative data, legal nuances, etc. They will also thereafter package this content editorially in a slick, reader-friendly and clean visual language.

    The roles are as follows:

    • Chief Copy Editor – experience of 5-7 years, preferably in the print media
    • Copy Editor – experience of 2-5 years, in print/online media

The candidates should have excellent language skills, news sense in both the soft and hard news space (especially at the overlap of the two) and understand the nuances of visual storytelling. The candidate should be a team player who can engage with our editorial team spread across the country for ideas and inputs. The background could be from a features publication or in the space of hard news. Willingness to learn and adapt, quick thinking, ability to take and respond to feedback real-time, and to work without the need for micromanagement are more important to discharge this than editing/writing skills

    • Senior Graphic Designer – experience of 7+ years in mainstream media
    • Graphic/data Designer – experience of 3+ years

The candidate should be very good at creating tight, packed layouts for print that are not text-heavy but convey the story's USPs at first look. Even if the subject is a 'hard' topic, the layouts would be aligned to the overall TIMS design philosophy. The ability to give a feature-ish visual feel to even dry, serious content is essential. The candidate should have a keenness to experiment and innovate, especially with AI. It is important that the candidate be well-informed about developments in the design space and well-read in context of the news cycle
