    Role Description

    This is a full-time on-site role for a General Manager. The General Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of The Retreat, Darjeeling. This includes managing the staff, ensuring excellent customer service, supervising maintenance and housekeeping, and overseeing financial operations. The General Manager will also be responsible for maintaining high occupancy rates and implementing strategies to enhance guest satisfaction.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Leadership and Team Management: Provide strong leadership to the hotel team, including department heads, supervisors, and frontline staff. Foster a culture of teamwork, excellence, and guest satisfaction.
    • Guest Experience: Ensure that every guest receives exceptional service throughout their stay. Monitor guest feedback and implement strategies to continuously enhance the guest experience.
    • Operations Management: Oversee all aspects of hotel operations, including front desk, housekeeping, food and beverage, maintenance, and administration. Implement efficient processes and procedures to maximize productivity and profitability.
    • Financial Performance: Develop and manage the hotel budget, revenue strategies, and cost-control measures to achieve financial targets and maximize profitability.
    • Sales and Marketing: Collaborate with the sales and marketing team to develop strategies to attract and retain guests, increase occupancy rates, and drive revenue growth.
    • Quality Assurance: Maintain the hotel's quality standards and ensure compliance with all regulations, policies, and procedures.
    • Community and Stakeholder Relations: Build positive relationships with local communities, government authorities, vendors, and other stakeholders to enhance the hotel's reputation and support its success.
    • Health and Safety: Ensure that the hotel complies with health, safety, and security regulations and protocols to provide a safe environment for guests and employees.

    Required Skills

    • 7+ years of progressive experience in the hospitality industry, including 5 years in a leadership role
    • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
    • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team
    • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
    • Knowledge of hotel operations and procedures
    • Financial management skills
    • Strategic mindset with excellent communication and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
    • Knowledge of IDS software is preferred
    • Experience in a similar role is preferred
