Description
SUPERVISORYRESPONSIBILITIES:
Senior Mechanical Designerdoes not have direct supervisory responsibilities but willcoordinate and oversee detail Mechanical engineering of outsidegroups and junior design staff
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Mentor andgive direction to other designers and contract personnel includingplanning design work for project assigned task groups.
Be proficient in the use of AutoCAD software and related Autodeskproducts and utilize CAD software to create mechanical drawings forthe basic and detailed engineering of a the plant.
Layout of Mechanical systems pipe routing equipment and utilitysystems for industrial projects.Utilize P&IDs todesign piping routings and check designs from others.
Take conceptual designs sketches and ideas from engineers andsenior designers to develop the details necessary for a completeengineered drawing capable of being used for purchasing erection inthe field design analysis etc.
Work with outsideengineering firms to coordinate detailed piping and mechanicaldesigns on large projects.Create bill of materialsbased on mechanical design and isometrics.
Travel to jobsites to perform analyses of existing equipment piping routeslayouts etc. for use in developing future plans proposalsetc.
Travel on business trips and/or field assignmentsas required to carry out departmental tasks andfunctions.
Perform checking of mechanical drawings forconsistency with conceptual ideas design sketches etc.
Assist engineers by suggesting design changes that might improvethe desired results of the design. Perform design calculations andsome basic engineering calculations where able.
Work asa teammate with all company departments and employees in allassignments. Work toward building consensus on all assignments byfinding solutions which meet the best interests of all partiesinvolved.
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Required:
Advanced computer skills including use ofMicrosoft and Autodesk products.
Microsoft Excel skillsincluding pivot tables and developing lists forengineering.
Be proficient in 3D modeling designsoftware or equivalent and techniques.
Be proficient inuse of AutoCAD software.
Excellent technical writing andinterpersonal communication skills.
Ability to meetschedule and deliverable deadlines.
Extensive knowledgeof mechanical designs and equipment used in various industrialapplications with broad knowledge of the technology &designs.
Ability to read and understand pipingisometrics.
Ability to supervise field erectionactivities including supplying technical and installationassistance for Mechanical systems used in DR and/or steelindustry.
Preferred:
Knowledge of Mechanical design including but not limited to stressanalysis.
International travel experience.
Industrial plant experience
