    Job Title: Head of Department - Costume and Fashion Design

    Location : Coimbatore

    Reports to: Principal of Arts & Science

    Job Overview:

    As the Head of Department for the Costume and Fashion Design Department, you will provide leadership and strategic direction to ensure the department's success in delivering high-quality education and fostering innovation in costume and fashion design. You will be responsible for curriculum development, faculty management, student engagement, industry collaboration, and overall departmental administration.

    Responsibilities:

    Curriculum Development:

    Develop and review the curriculum to ensure it aligns with industry trends, standards, and best practices.

    Introduce new courses or update existing ones to meet the evolving needs of the costume and fashion design field.

    Incorporate interdisciplinary approaches to encourage creativity and collaboration among students.

    Faculty Management:

    Recruit, supervise, mentor, and evaluate faculty members to maintain a high standard of teaching and research.

    Provide professional development opportunities and support to faculty members to enhance their skills and expertise.

    Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that promotes collaboration, creativity, and academic excellence.

    Student Engagement:

    Student recruitment, admissions, and retention efforts to attract and retain talented individuals.

    Provide academic and career guidance to students, supporting their growth and development as future professionals in the field.

    Organize extracurricular activities, workshops, and events to enrich the student experience and build a sense of community within the department.

    Industry Collaboration:

    Establish and maintain partnerships with industry stakeholders, including fashion houses, costume designers, manufacturers, and retailers.

    Facilitate internships, industry projects, and guest lectures to expose students to real-world experiences and foster industry connections.

    Stay informed about industry trends, technologies, and practices to ensure the department's curriculum remains relevant and responsive to market needs.

    Departmental Administration:

    Manage the departmental budget, resources, and facilities effectively, ensuring optimal utilization and allocation.

    Oversee administrative tasks such as scheduling, facilities maintenance, and equipment procurement to support teaching and learning activities.

    Prepare reports, assessments, and accreditation documentation as required by regulatory bodies and accreditation agencies.

    Requirements:

    Master's degree or higher in Costume Design, Fashion Design, Textile Design, or a related field. PhD desirable.

    7-10 years of experience in teaching, research, and/or professional practice in costume and fashion design.

    Demonstrated leadership and management skills, with experience in academic administration preferred.

    Strong knowledge of costume and fashion design principles, techniques, and technologies.

    Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

    Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, students, staff, and industry partners.

    Familiarity with accreditation standards and processes in higher education (optional).
