- Design and engineer solar tracker foundation systems, including pier foundations, ground screws, and ballasted systems to meet project requirements and industry standards with knowledge of regulatory codes.
- Conduct site assessments, soil investigations, and geotechnical analysis to evaluate site conditions and determine appropriate foundation design parameters.
- Guide the structural designing team with calculations for tracker support structures, considering factors such as wind loads, snow loads, seismic loads, and foundation settlement.
- Prepare detailed construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation for civil and structural components of solar tracker systems.
- Work closely with project managers, electrical engineers, and construction teams to coordinate civil design activities and ensure alignment with project timelines and budgets.
- Perform structural analysis using engineering software such as STAAD.Pro, SAP2000 or similar programs to validate design concepts and optimize structural performance.
- Review and evaluate third-party engineering designs, reports, and calculations to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
- Provide technical support during the procurement and construction phases of projects, including responding to RFIs, conducting site inspections, and resolving design-related issues.
- Stay informed about emerging technologies, industry best practices, and regulatory developments related to solar tracker design and civil engineering.
- Participate in design review meetings, interdisciplinary coordination meetings, and project debriefs to identify lessons learned and continuous improvement opportunities.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in civil engineering, with a focus on civil design for renewable energy projects, preferably in the solar industry.
- Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, geotechnical engineering concepts, and structural analysis methods.
- Proficiency in engineering design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and structural analysis software (e.g., STAAD.Pro, SAP2000).
- Experience with geotechnical investigation techniques, soil mechanics, and foundation design principles for utility-scale solar projects.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think critically and analytically to resolve complex engineering challenges.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work under tight deadlines.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment and adapt to changing project requirements and priorities.
