    Position Summary

    The General Procurement Services Lead is a critical role within Cognizant's Global Procurement organization.The position is responsible to devise the strategic direction of the Global Procurement Services functions in line with management's goals, as well as provide supervision and guidance to our operating services team leads.Such strategic direction and guidance must also align with our Global Procurement Services Team Mission Statement:"To provide best-in-class and frictionless procurement transactional support, through efficient business processes and automation, for our general Associate base and our Global Commodity Sourcing Teams to enable them to meet business sourcing and procurement needs and meet their mission, which is to create P&L capacity for Cognizant and deliver a 10X ROI."General Procurement Services is a subset of our Global Procurement Services team.In scope services include Global Contract Management, including contract review and drafting, Global Supplier Life Cycle Management, Third Party Risk Assessment support, Low Value Buying, Purchase Request to Purchase Order Conversion, and Catalog Management.These functions process billions of dollars per year in spend.Global Procurement Services consists of the General Procurement Services functions plus our Global Procurement Services Helpdesk, our Procurement Services Operations Excellence Group, and our Mergers and Acquisitions Procurement team.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Strategic responsibilities:

    Conceives transformation and automation initiatives across People, Process and Technology with the goal of increasing Procurement Services efficiency and effectiveness in coordination with Risk Stakeholders, Procurement Leadership, and the Operations Excellence Team, and with reference to best practices

    Designs Governance, Escalation, and Communication framework to ensure Customer satisfaction, Voice of Customer, and Stakeholder experience delight in consultation with the Assistant Vice President, Procurement Services

    Designs controls to enable the General Procurement Services team to adhere and execute according to Procurement policies and Standard Operating Procedures

    Develops and rolls out new service offerings as identified through best practice research and the anticipation of leadership needs

    Determines KPI's that best measure success within Procurement Services; monitor for continuous improvement

    Designs career pathing for the General Procurement Services teams and mentors team members, including team leadership succession planning

    ·Process-related responsibilities:

  • Forecasting resourcing needs and meeting budget targets for teams in the General Procurement Services organization.
  • Escalation handling
  • Provide white-glove service necessary to expedite VIP transaction handling
  • Promote a culture of internal customer-centricity
  • Provide real-time assistance to service leads with problem solving and transactional issues, who over a team of approximately 45 Procurement Services analysts
  • Provide guidance to operating teams to operationalize transformation and automation initiatives
  • Reviews and reassigns staffing periodically on a tactical basis to coverage of priority services and special projects
  • Provides operational and transformational updates to ELT (VP, SVP level) and PLT members on a regular basis and / or as needed
  • Holds Procurement Services teams accountable for meeting KPI's
  • Works with cross-functional leadership (D+) to develop and agree to SLA's for the various processes listed above for the Procurement Services Team and other process participants, such as Risk Stakeholder teams. Provide support to Risk Stakeholders to maintain SLA's and TAT.
  • Develop and nurture business-partner relationships with General Procurement Services' key stakeholder leaders, such as our Risk Stakeholders, Legal, Accounts Payable, and select operational Business Units to ensure their teams have a seamless end-to-end Procure to Pay experience.
  • Develop action plans based upon responses to customer satisfaction surveys, when available.
  • Qualifications

    · Thought Leadership: Familiar with best practices in Procurement Services and ability to devise strategies accordingly.Visibility throughout the entire Procurement Organization.Recognized throughout the organization as the Procurement process SME for services within scope

    · Leadership: Ability to make decisions quickly, act with integrity and a calm demeanor, possess a good understanding of management practices and techniques, and be outcome oriented.

    · Problem solving: Ability to find solutions to difficult or complex issues.

    · Communication: Excellent communication skills and relating with team members, customers, peers, and management of all levels.

    ·Analytical skills:Be numerically astute with strong demonstrated problem solving abilities and possess a keen attention to detail and accuracy

    ·Talent management: Track record of building and managing effective teams, Track record in designing career paths for team roles and mentoring teams

    · IT proficiency:Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Ariba

    Experience

    ·Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field required.Masters Degree preferred.

    ·5-10 years of shared services leadership experience in a global company

    ·15-25 years of procurement or purchasing experience along with significant interaction with suppliers

    ·In-depth knowledge of purchasing, negotiation, commercial understanding, and cost breakdown

    ·Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) or similar qualification is desirable
