    Job Title: Field Service Engineer
    Function: Service
    Reports to: Area Service Manager
    Location: North East
    Job Purpose: To ensure maximum availability of INNIO Jenbacher gas engines and related plant through maintenance, trouble-shooting and fault rectification.
    Majority of time spent: Scheduled maintenance

    Responsibilities.
    Deliver an efficient and cost effective service to customers, to ensure that:

  • Maximum availability of INNIO Jenbacher gas engines and related balance of plant is achieved through fast response trouble shooting and fault rectification.
  • Scheduled maintenance is carried out to the required standard in order to avoid unnecessary replacement of parts and engine unavailability.
  • On call rota participation.
  • Oil samples are taken, labelled and despatched to the laboratory in accordance with agreed standards and procedures. –
  • Parts are selected, ordered, and used correctly, with any parts that prove unnecessary being returned to store in order to keep wastage to an absolute minimum. –
  • Van stock is maintained in good condition, accurately booking parts out as they are used and reporting actual shortfalls to the Area Service Manager. –
  • Ensure that liaison and good communication with Area Service Manager, customers and subcontractors on site is maintained at all times.
  • Document all site visits and complete service reports in accordance with agreed quality standards and timescales.
  • Protect and develop the industry standing of Clarke Energy by:
    – Building and maintaining positive relationships with customers, based on consistently professional dealings and attitude.
    – Maintaining a high level of site and van house- keeping and presentation.
    – Ensuring that company supplied equipment is well maintained and kept at a high standard of cleanliness.
    – Maintaining tools in a good and safe working order and calibrated as required.
  • Support the Area Service Manager by supervising and training Apprentices and new employees as required.
  • Follow and adhere to Health, Safety, and Environmental standards and regulations at all times.

    • Technical/Professional Knowledge and Skills
    – High level of engineering skill and knowledge.
    – Marine experience desirable but not essential
    – Understanding of Clarke Energy products and markets.
    – Gas safe registered desirable but not essential
    – IT skills.
    – Basic coaching skills

    Essential
    -High level of engineering skill with a minimum of 3 years' service engineering experience.
    -Electrical and mechanical engineering knowledge.
    -Willing to travel around NI/ROI, with some sporadic training visits to GB or Austria.
    -Willing to work long and unsociable hours, and work away from home if required.
    -NVQ, City & Guilds or NFQ Level 6 qualification or equivalent.
    -Reasonable level of IT skills.
    -Full driving license.

    Desirable
    -Marine experience desirable
    -Medium speed engine experience
    -Gas engine knowledge and experience
