    Power Foundation of India is a think tank and a policy advocacy organisation in the Power Sector. It is a society registered under the aegis of the Ministry of Power, Government of India. It is supported by twelve leading power sector organisations.

    The Power Foundation of India conducts independent, evidence-based research on issues and challenges pertaining to the power sector to uncover valuable insights and solutions. Our studies encompass diverse aspects related to the generation, transmission, distribution, trading of electricity, energy transition, renewable and environment sustainability.

    The Foundation also designs and implements consumer campaigns and outreach programs on relevant themes related to the Power sector. Through these campaigns and outreach efforts, the organization is dedicated to enhancing consumer knowledge and engagement in the power sector, contributing to a more environmentally friendly and economically responsible energy landscape.

    Job Description:

    We are seeking a talented and experienced Senior Energy Economist to join our team.

    The ideal candidate should have

    · Experienced as an Energy Economist from industry or consulting in power sector / natural resources for more then 10 years.

    · Knowledge in Economics of Power Sector, which include market analysis, energy efficiency, statistical / econometric/mathematical modeling, demand-supply forecast, economic cost-benefit analysis, economic modeling & investment planning, scenario and risk analysis, socio-economic impact studies, national & international economic & geopolitical developments having implications for India's energy sector development & transition, economics of energy-environment and climate change.

    · Publications of research papers and thought / opinion pieces.

    · Demonstrated analytical & problem-solving skills.

    · Demonstrated capability to lead multidisciplinary teams, and engagement with all stakeholders (private sector, public sector, government, academia)

    Key Responsibilities:

    · Conceptualize and undertake high quality analytical research.

    · Manage/Lead research & multidisciplinary teams, ensuring high quality deliverables on schedule.

    · Track domestic economic developments and study implications for the Power Sector.

    · Track international economic and geopolitical developments.

    · Study impact of geo-political developments on India's energy economics and security, with special focus on power sector

    · Review (and share) all economic issues (fiscal & monetary incentives & penalties, costs & revenues, etc) in regulation, policies, legislation having implications for power sector.

    · Contribute to areas of power/energy market analysis, demand-supply forecast, economic cost-benefit analysis, economic modeling & investment planning, scenario and risk analysis, socio-economic impact studies.

    · Analyze consultation documents of power sector and allied areas.

    · Organize and conduct Stakeholder consultations.

    · Perform & execute any other tasks assigned by competent authority.

    · Collaborate and engage with partners, industry, policy makers; share research findings; contribute through thought pieces

    Qualifications

    · Postgraduate in Economics / Engineer & MBA; PhD/FPM in Economics of Energy / Environment

    Experience

    · Minimum of 10-15 yrs. work experience as an Energy Economist (preferably with experience of Power Sector), with knowledge of macroeconomics, public policy, political economy, markets and pricing principles, climate risks and sustainable development.
