About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Draftsman (3-5 years experience) to join our team. As a Draftsman, you will be responsible for creating accurate and precise technical drawings and specifications for furniture designs. Your expertise in drafting software and understanding of furniture manufacturing processes will be crucial in ensuring the successful execution of our furniture projects.
Responsibilities:
● Collaborate with designers, engineers, and project managers to understand the design requirements and specifications for furniture pieces.
● Create detailed technical drawings, including plans, elevations and sections using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
● Develop accurate 2D and 3D models of furniture designs, considering dimensions, materials, and manufacturing techniques.
● Ensure that the furniture designs adhere to industry standards and client specifications.
● Collaborate with the sales and production team to provide on time drawings and material specification for fabrication of furniture pieces.
● Maintain a comprehensive library of furniture design drawings, templates, and standard details to facilitate efficient drafting processes.
● Manage time effectively to insure project progress.
● Stay updated with emerging trends, materials, and techniques in furniture design, CAD software and manufacturing.
● Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to source appropriate materials and components for furniture production.
Requirements:
● 3-5 years work experience as a furniture draftsman
● Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Furniture Design, Interior Design, or a related field.
● Proven experience as a Furniture Draftsman, preferably with a focus on custom furniture or cabinetry.
● Proficiency in AutoCAD. Additional CAD and 3D Rendering software knowledge is a plus.
● Strong knowledge of furniture design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes. Familiarity with industry standards and regulations.
● Excellent attention to detail and ability to create accurate and precise technical drawings.
● Ability to interpret and translate design concepts into practical and functional furniture designs.
● Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
● Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
● Knowledge of sustainable and environmentally friendly furniture design practices is a plus.
