Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Google Vertex AI professional to design, configure, and scale intelligent search and discovery solutions for our e-commerce retail platform. This role will focus on implementing and optimizing Vertex AI Search for Commerce (SaaS) to deliver highly relevant, personalized, and high-performance search experiences on the TWC website, leveraging rich product merchandising data.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and implement Vertex AI Search for Commerce for e-commerce search and discovery use cases.
• Configure the SaaS platform to effectively consume and utilize product merchandising data (catalog, attributes, taxonomy, pricing, availability, metadata).
• Enable and optimize semantic search, relevance tuning, ranking, and query understanding using built-in and custom configurations.
• Integrate Vertex AI Search for Commerce with existing e-commerce front-end and backend systems.
• Customize search behavior to support business rules, boosting, filtering, faceting, and personalization.
• Implement A/B testing and experimentation to continuously improve search relevance, engagement, and conversion.
• Monitor, analyze, and optimize search performance, latency, relevance metrics, and cost efficiency.
• Build and manage end-to-end ML pipelines on Vertex AI where customization beyond SaaS capabilities is required.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, Merchandising, and Business teams to translate search and discovery requirements into scalable AI solutions.
• Ensure solutions meet standards for scalability, security, reliability, and performance.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers on AI and search architecture.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in AI/ML engineering, search platforms, or data-driven product development.
• Strong hands-on experience with Google Vertex AI, including:
• Vertex AI Search for Commerce (SaaS)
• Training, pipelines, endpoints, and monitoring
• Proven experience implementing e-commerce search and discovery solutions.
• Strong understanding of information retrieval, ranking algorithms, relevance tuning, and search evaluation metrics.
• Hands-on experience with:
• Semantic search, embeddings, vector search
• NLP-based query understanding
• Solid programming skills in Python and experience with ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn).
• Strong experience working with product catalog and merchandising data:
• Product attributes, taxonomy, pricing, availability, promotions, metadata
• Expertise in GCP services, including:
• BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Cloud Functions
• Experience deploying and operating low-latency, scalable search and ML APIs.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders in retail or e-commerce environments.

Nice to Have

• Experience with large-scale retail catalogs and high-traffic e-commerce platforms.
• Familiarity with personalization strategies and customer behavior analytics.
• Prior experience migrating or modernizing legacy search platforms to Vertex AI Search for Commerce.
