    We are looking for a Purchase Intern to understand requirements, research, source and manage the end to end delivery of the products. You will review prices, quality and ensure optimal stock levels.

    Your responsibilities include evaluating vendors, negotiating contracts and preparing reports (e.g. on orders and costs). For this role, you should have good knowledge of market research, along with solid analytical skills to make sure you're identifying the most profitable offers.

    Ultimately, you'll create and maintain good relationships with key vendors to ensure merchandise is high quality and delivered on time.

    ABOUT DEPARTMENT

    The purchasing department serves its customers by procuring the goods and services as per their requirements in a timely manner while also maintaining vendor relationships. They seek and purchase products and services at the best possible price and value.

    AREA OF RESPONSIBILITIES

    Some of your responsibilities will include:

    • Design, plan and implement sourcing and purchasing strategies.
    • Coordinate with suppliers, manufacturers and internal departments.
    • Ensure clear requirements are documentation before the purchase process is initiated.
    • Research and find relevant products based on purchase requirements.
    • Search for online vendors to find product availability and price.
    • Call local vendors to check availability and price.
    • Seek and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers.
    • Maintaining the supplier database, purchase records, and related documentation.
    • Negotiate lower pricing.
    • Make detailed price and feature comparison table on Coda or other software applications.
    • Manage the entire process of sourcing, tracking, delivery, payment and dispute resolution.
    • Coordinate with customer care during the entire return / refund / replacement process.
    • Advice on suitable substitutes for dated, discontinued, or unavailable products.
    • Working to improve purchasing systems and processes.

    • Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management.
    • Ability to gather and analyse data and to work with figures.
    • Proficient in MS Excel / Google Sheet.
