    Job Description:

    The Head of Procurement is a critical leadership role responsible for developing and executing the procurement strategy for raw materials, APIs, packaging materials, and critical services required in the manufacturing of injectable pharmaceuticals and biosimilars.

    This position ensures cost-effective sourcing, supply continuity, regulatory compliance, and supplier quality to support Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) operations and client deliverables globally.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Strategic Procurement Leadership:
      • Develop and execute the procurement strategy in alignment with business goals for injectables and biosimilars manufacturing.
      • Lead global sourcing initiatives for APIs, excipients, vials, syringes, stoppers, secondary packaging, and biologics-specific raw materials.
      • Drive category management and total cost of ownership approaches.
    • Supplier Management & Development:
      • Identify, evaluate, qualify, and manage key suppliers and contract manufacturers.
      • Build long-term partnerships with suppliers to ensure supply security, compliance, and innovation.
      • Monitor supplier performance (quality, delivery, cost, compliance) using KPIs.
    • Operational Procurement Excellence:
      • Oversee end-to-end procurement processes, including RFQs, contract negotiations, and PO execution.
      • Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), Good Distribution Practice (GDP), and regulatory guidelines (FDA, EMA, WHO, etc.).
      • Collaborate closely with Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC), Research and Development (R&D), and Manufacturing for tech transfer and scale-up projects.
    • Risk & Compliance Management:
      • Develop and maintain risk mitigation strategies for critical supply items.
      • Ensure procurement activities adhere to all regulatory, legal, and ethical standards.
      • Lead audits and inspections related to supplier qualification and procurement activities.
    • Team & Stakeholder Leadership:
      • Lead and mentor a high-performing procurement team.
      • Collaborate cross-functionally with project management, operations, finance, legal, and regulatory teams.
      • Serve as a procurement Subject Matter Expert (SME) for client audits, due diligence, and partnership discussions.

      Qualifications:

      • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy, Chemistry, Engineering, or Supply Chain. Master's degree or advanced degree preferred.
      • Minimum 10–15 years of experience in procurement, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within a CDMO or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
      • Strong knowledge of sterile injectables and biosimilars supply chain requirements.
      • Demonstrated experience in sourcing high-value APIs, biologics materials, and regulated packaging components.
      • Deep understanding of GMP, regulatory standards, and quality systems.
      • Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills.
      • ERP experience (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and procurement digital tools familiarity is a plus.
