    Description

    Job Description :
    You will be responsible for leading a team of COBOL developers, developing, maintaining, and modernizing critical business applications.

    You will also play a key role in ensuring excellent communication and collaboration within the team.


    Responsibilities :

    • Lead and mentor a team of COBOL developers, providing technical guidance and support.
    • Develop, maintain, and enhance existing COBOL applications using Microfocus tools (e.g. Visual COBOL, NetExpress).
    • Participate in the design, development, and implementation of new COBOL applications.
    • Work collaboratively with business analysts and other stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
    • Identify opportunities for application modernization and lead modernization efforts.
    • Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve complex COBOL application issues.
    • Utilize version control tools (e.g.
    Git) to manage code changes.

    • Document code and technical processes.
    • Participate in knowledge transfer activities and train junior developers.
    • Communicate effectively with team members, stakeholders, and management, both verbally and in writing.
    • Manage team workload and ensure project deadlines are met.
    • Stay uptodate on the latest COBOL development trends and technologies.

    Qualifications :

    • 5+ years of experience as a COBOL developer.
    • Proven experience leading and mentoring a development team.
    • Indepth knowledge of Microfocus COBOL development tools (e.g.
    Visual COBOL, NetExpress).

    • Strong understanding of COBOL programming language syntax and best practices.
    • Experience with user interface technologies relevant to COBOL applications (e.g. CICS, BMS).
    • Excellent communication and problemsolving skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Proficient in code versioning tools (e.g. Git).
    • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred.
