We are looking for a highly skilled video editor for our YouTube documentary channel "They Had A Name", which focuses on lesser-known historical figures (mainly WWII aviation and military history).
Our style is cinematic, respectful, and narrative-driven – similar to documentary storytelling channels (e.g. Mark Felton Productions).
Project Scope:
- 8 videos per month
- Each video
approx. 8–12 minutes
- We provide
full script, professional voice-over (ElevenLabs), and SRT subtitle files
- Your role
transform these assets into a high-quality documentary video
What We Expect (Very Important):
- Strong storytelling and pacing (not just clip assembly)
- No repeated archival footage
- Historically relevant visuals (not generic stock footage)
- Clean subtitle integration (based on SRT files)
- Subtle, appropriate background music (no YouTube cliché music)
- Professional documentary tone and structure
- Proven experience editing documentary or history-style YouTube videos
- Strong portfolio with narrative/voice-over driven content
- Ability to work with archival footage and long-form storytelling
- Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow scripts precisely
- Reused clips multiple times in the same video
- Random stock footage unrelated to the narration
- Fast, flashy "YouTube automation" editing style
- Editors who do not follow the provided script structure
We provide:
- Final script
- Voice-over audio (ElevenLabs)
- SRT subtitles
- Style references
- Fully edited video (1080p or 4K)
- Integrated subtitles
- Licensed background music
- Organized project files (for long-term collaboration)
Before long-term hiring, we require a short paid test (2–3 minutes edit) using our real script and voice-over.
This helps us ensure quality and style alignment.
Budget:
$100–$150 per 10-minute video (depending on quality and experience)
Long-term collaboration is preferred for consistent monthly production.
