Description

• Fill prescriptionsverifying instructions from physicians on the proper amounts ofmedication to give to patients
  
• Checkwhether prescriptions will interact negatively with other drugsthat a patient is taking or any medical conditions the patienthas
  
• Instruct patients on how andwhen to take a prescribed medicine and inform them about potentialside effects from taking themedicine
  
• Give flu shots and in moststates other vaccinations
  
• Advisepatients about general health topics such as diet exercise andmanaging stress and on other issues such as what equipment orsupplies would be best to treat a healthproblem
  
• Complete insurance forms andwork with insurance companies to ensure that patients get themedicines they need
  
• Oversee the workof pharmacy technicians and pharmacists in training(interns)
  
• Keep records and do otheradministrative tasks
  
• Teach otherhealthcare practitioners about proper medication therapies forpatients
