    Key Responsibilities and Duties

    • Statutory Compliance & Industrial Relations

    Indian Labour Law Compliance:

    Ensure 100% compliance with all applicable Central and State Labour Laws, including the Factories Act, 1948, Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) & ESI Act, Payment of Wages Act, Minimum Wages Act, and the new Labour Codes (Code on Wages, IR Code, Social Security Code, OSH Code) as they become effective.


    IR Management:

    Lead and manage all aspects of Industrial Relations, including wage settlements, grievance handling, and maintaining a harmonious working environment at all plant locations.


    Contract Labour Management:

    Oversee compliance and welfare for contract workers as per the Contract Labour (Regulation & Abolition) Act, 1970, and manage relationships with manpower contractors.


    Legal Liaison:

    Act as the primary HR liaison for all statutory audits, government inspections, and legal proceedings related to employee or labour disputes.


    • Workforce Planning & Talent Management

    Manpower Planning:

    Partner with Plant Heads and Production Managers to forecast, plan, and budget for both permanent (workmen, supervisors) and contract labour needs across all sites.


    Talent Acquisition:

    Develop and manage recruitment strategies for critical corporate, technical, and plant-level roles, ensuring robust pipelines for specialized manufacturing skills.


    Performance Management:

    Implement and drive a standardized, objective performance management system for both staff and workmen, linked to productivity and organizational goals.


    • Compensation, Benefits, and Payroll

    Total Rewards Strategy:

    Design and manage competitive compensation and benefits structures, factoring in local and regional minimum wages, cost of living, and industry benchmarks for the manufacturing sector in India.


    Statutory Benefits:

    Ensure timely and accurate processing and remittance of statutory benefits, including PF, ESI, Gratuity, and Bonus, for all employees and the contract workers.


    Payroll Oversight:
    Oversee the consolidated payroll process for all sites, ensuring accuracy in shift allowances, overtime calculation, and statutory deductions.

    • Training, Safety, and Employee Welfare

    Training & Development:

    Identify critical skill gaps at the plant level (e.g., technical skills, safety protocols) and corporate level (e.g., leadership, compliance) and design relevant T&D programs.

    Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS)

    Collaboration:

    Work closely with the team to embed safety culture, ensure mandatory safety training compliance under the Factories Act, and manage workmen compensation cases.


    Welfare & Engagement:

    Oversee employee welfare facilities (e.g., canteen, transportation, crèche facility as per the Maternity Benefit Act) and implement engagement initiatives to boost morale and reduce absenteeism and attrition.

    Qualifications and Experience

    Education:
    Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is mandatory. A Master's degree (MBA/PGDM) in HR/Personnel Management & Industrial Relations (PM & IR) is highly preferred.

    Experience:

    Minimum 10+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 4 years in a Corporate or Senior HR role within a multi-site manufacturing, heavy engineering, or industrial company in India.


    Knowledge:

    In-depth, current knowledge of Indian Labour Laws (including the new Codes), statutory compliance, and best practices in Industrial Relations within a manufacturing setup.


    Skills:

    Strong proficiency in HRIS/Payroll systems, excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills, and proven ability to operate strategically while managing daily compliance and administrative tasks.


    Language:

    Fluency in Tamil & English and proficiency in Hindi or a key regional language relevant to the plant locations is highly desirable.
