    Description

    The Opportunity:

    We are looking for a Product Engineer who will design, build, test, and maintain the Ethos ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) platform within the development team.

    Ethos aggregates data from hundreds of sources and uses our algorithms to create ratings and analyses of 15,000+ companies, funds, and client portfolios. We use our data, ratings, and analyses to serve hundreds of financial services firms on both impact- and ESG risk-related services.

    What you will do:

    Understands product approach, design decisions, and create an implementation that supports overall design

    Collaboratively works with other engineers on the team

    Actively participates in our Agile development lifecycle including daily scrums, planning, story refinement, stand-ups, and retrospectives

    Proactively performs code reviews, gives feedback, and asks questions

    Along with the team, owns certain aspects of the application, including quality, performance testing, and production support

    Works with other members of the team in a proactive fashion

    To qualify for the role, you must have:

    • Understanding how to scale, distribute, and building Ruby on Rails applications
    • Experience in software development and working in an agile environment
    • Experience working with RESTful APIs with particular attention to security, scalability, availability, and performance.
    • Ability to work with databases using SQL
    • Organizational skills
    • Ability to work independently
    • Familiarity with various operating systems

    Ideally, you will also have:

    Experience with Heroku and various AWS applications such as S3 and Cloudfront

    Knowledge and experience using relational database systems especially PostgreSQL and MySQL

    Familiarity with HTML/CSS/Javascript

    Ability to comfortably develop code for and debug remote systems
