    What you can expect to be doing:

    The Targeted Youth Support Worker sits within our Inclusion Team within North Dorset. You will support the Targeted Youth Worker and the wider Inclusion Team with direct work with young people within locally identified priorities. There is a particular emphasis on contextual safeguarding and the prevention of extra-familial harm. Work with young people may include addressing risk factors such as improving school attendance and reducing school exclusions.
    A key element of our locality model is to enable community solutions and the post-holder will support partners such as school support staff as well as voluntary and community organisations in delivery of programmes to intervene effectively with young people. There will also be an expectation of directly delivery of youth work such as one-to-one work, targeted group work and detached or outreach work.

    About you:

    We are looking for a candidate with extensive experience of working face to face to face with young people in a range of settings, and a knowledge of youth work. You will understand the wider issues affecting young people, contextual safeguarding and extra-familial harm. You will be confident in building relationships with young people, in delivering group work and working with young people in the community. You will be able to record that the work you do with young people and identity how this has led to successful outcomes.
    You will need to be flexible, adaptable, and creative in your approach. You should be capable of networking and building relationships with key partners such as schools, police, and the voluntary and community sector. If you do not hold a qualification in youth work, you should be willing to undertake a Level 3 Diploma in Youth Work.

    This post requires significant travel. You must have a vehicle (or transport we deem suitable) available for use as needed.
