    Regional Director, Maharashtra

    The International Forum for Environment, Sustainability & Technology (iFOREST), is establishing its regional office in Maharashtra to advance the organization's efforts of finding, promoting, and scaling up solutions for some of the pressing environmental–development challenges, at the state level. For this, we seek to appoint a Regional Director based in Mumbai/Pune.

    As a Regional Director, the successful candidate will play a pivotal leadership role in advancing our work and engagement in Maharashtra on the inter-related issues of climate change, just energy transition, and sustainable growth.

    Key Responsibilities

    The key responsibilities of the Regional Director are highlighted below:

    Research and development of outputs

    • Lead research projects on clean energy, climate change, just energy transition, and related aspects.
    • Mentor and manage team members working in the state.
    • Design comprehensive plans for executing research and engagement assignments.
    • Guide and oversee quantitative and qualitative research work, including primary research.
    • Lead and guide the development and completion of research reports, policy briefs, factsheets, technical documents, etc.
    • Take complete responsibility and remain accountable for high quality and timely execution of all committed activities and deliverables.
    • Responsible for overall the development of materials for dissemination of research findings, such a impactful presentations, material decks, opinion articles etc.
    • Conceptualize new research ideas that are aligned with programme objectives.

    Stakeholder engagement

    • Build deep and leverageable networks of stakeholders across segments, including, government, industry, financial institutions CSOs, media etc.
    • Do high-level meetings and presentations to achieve outcomes.
    • Design and guide execution of public meetings/convening, high-level roundtables, convenings, etc. to build policy and public engagement.
    • Be iFOREST's senior representative in important meetings and conversations (at internal and external events) to present institutional perspectives and insights.
    • Design and manage a comprehensive outreach strategy for effective communication of research outputs.

    Administrative duties

    • Day-to-day team management, including guidance on all accounts.
    • Take lead in recruitment and build the regional team
    • Coordinate with the CEO and the iFOREST management to shape the overall strategy for the programme, aligned with institutional priorities, sector-specific issues, and ongoing work of partner/non-partner institutions.
    • Engage with existing funders on grant management, reporting, and other necessary communications.
    • Manage project budgets.
    • Develop proposals and raise funds in coordination with the program directors.
    • Be part of iFOREST's senior leadership, and contribute to policy decisions that help shape a strong and resilient institution. Contribute to decisions for that ensure efficiency in organizational structure, culture, and philosophy.
    • Adopt an entrepreneurial approach and action orientation to identify challenges, establish priorities, and implement viable solutions for the institution.
    • Contribute to the institution's brand building by representing iFOREST on various high-level public platforms.

    Required Skills and Competencies

    • Knowledge and clear understanding of key issues and developments on clean energy, climate change, just energy transition, industrial transitions, and related matters.
    • Should have the keenness and ability to remain abreast with developments in the areas of engagement, to provide ideas, and to engage meaningfully with team and external stakeholders.
    • Strong research aptitude with a proven track record.
    • Ability to undertake and guide impactful research and technical analysis.
    • Proven track record of high-level engagement with Government and Industry.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Ability to manage programmes/projects, and ensure team performance.
    • Ability to deliver quality outputs as per goals and targets.
    • Willingness to take up responsibilities as per the organizational need and remain nimble.
    • Experience and track record of developing and managing high-quality teams.
    • Track record on fund raising.

    Educational Qualification

    Basic qualification: Bachelors in Engineering (Mechanical, Energy, Industry, or related) or Masters in planning (Urban or Regional planning) or Masters in physical sciences or environmental sciences

    Additional Qualification: Masters in Economics, Law, Public Policy, Climate Change or MBA

    Other qualifications can be considered if the candidate justifies her/his qualification in the application.
