Role Summary
The role is responsible for end-to-end financial accounting, reconciliation, and control of marketplace and omni-channel sales including platforms such as Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra, and standalone retail channels. The position ensures accurate recording of sales, settlements, receivables, deductions, inventory movements, and reconciliations between ERP, marketplace reports, and bank statements.
Key Responsibilities
1. Marketplace Sales Accounting
•Record periodic sales for all marketplace, brand stores and retail channels in the accounting system.
•Ensure correct breakup of gross sales, discounts, commissions, shipping fees, taxes (GST), returns, and refunds.
•Verify accuracy of settlement reports vs invoiced sales.
2. Sales & Channel Reconciliation
•Reconcile marketplace sales reports with: ERP/accounting system & Order management system
•Identify and resolve mismatches related to price differences, missing orders, cancelled orders, and partial settlements.
3. Accounts Receivable & Settlement Reconciliation
•Reconcile platform receivables with marketplace settlement statements.
•Track outstanding balances, short payments, withheld amounts, and claims.
•Monitor deductions such as commissions, penalties, chargebacks, and promotional costs.
4. Stock & Inventory Reconciliation
•Reconcile sales quantities with inventory movement for: Marketplace-managed stock (FBA / seller-fulfilled), Retail store stock
•Identify stock variances due to returns, damages, lost inventory, or platform adjustments.
5. Returns, Refunds & Claims Management
•Track customer returns, refunds, and replacement orders.
•Reconcile reverse logistics charges and return deductions.
•Coordinate with operations and marketplace support for claims on lost/damaged inventory.
6. Reporting & Controls
•Prepare periodic reports on : Channel-wise sales posting & reconciliation, Outstanding receivables & Settlement differences, Inventory variances
•Support internal audits, statutory audits, and GST reconciliations related to marketplace sales.
•Ensure strong documentation and audit trail for all reconciliations.
7. Process Improvement & Automation
•Improve reconciliation processes through templates, automation, and system controls.
•Coordinate with IT / operations for integration accuracy between systems.
Skills & Competencies
•Strong understanding of marketplace business models and settlement mechanisms
•Excellent reconciliation and analytical skills
•High attention to detail and control mindset
•Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, lookups, reconciliation models)
•Experience with ERP/accounting software
Qualifications & Experience
•Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Accounting, or Finance
•2–6 years of experience in marketplace accounting or e-commerce finance
•Prior hands-on experience with Amazon/Flipkart/Myntra settlements is strongly preferred
