- A strong academic background with a B.E./B.Tech degree in Computer Science or equivalent, with 5-7 years overall experience.
- 4–6 years of proven experience as a Cognos Developer, building enterprise BI solutions.
- Hands-on experience with:
- Cognos Framework Manager (FM) and dimensional/relational modeling.
- Cognos Report Studio, dashboards, and advanced visualizations.
- Cognos Analytics 11.x, including Data Modules and Reporting tools.
- Experience building:
- Complex reports, dashboards, scorecards, and paginated reports.
- Drill-through, drill-down, and parameterized reports.
- Strong SQL skills and experience working with:
- SQL Server, Oracle, DB2, or other relational databases.
- Flat files, JSON, NoSQL sources (as needed).
- Experience in:
- Designing star and snowflake schemas.
- Import and live data connections.
- BI semantic modeling.
- Experience working with security:
- Cognos roles, groups, and row-level security.
- Hands-on knowledge of best practices in:
- BI development, testing, performance tuning, and deployment.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Experience with Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines for BI deployments.
- Exposure to Cognos Analytics on Cloud or enterprise-level deployments.
- Experience with Azure Analysis Services, Power BI, or other BI tools.
- Experience working with Operational Data Stores, Data Warehouses, and Data Lakes.
- Domain experience in P&C Insurance or BFSI.
- Design and implement scalable, high-availability Cognos BI and analytics solutions.
- Perform report and model performance tuning as per product and business needs.
- Work closely with stakeholders to identify business issues that need analytical solutions.
- Perform root cause analysis on data and BI components, and support production issue resolution.
- Establish the team as a subject matter expert in Cognos BI across departments.
- Work closely with the Tech Lead to convert technical specifications into implementation.
- Drive automation, standardization, and best practices in Cognos development and deployment workflows.
