    Description

    Accountabilities/Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement risk assessment and mitigation strategies and controls to minimise the impact of identified risk. This includes owning the Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) process for Procurement, running regular reviews and owning updating the core operational risk system (MetricStream)
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and standards (particularly the Third Party Risk Management & Outsourcing Policy), industry regulations and legal requirements related to procurement activities by collaborating with second line of defence teams to stay updated on relevant laws, regulations and best practices and align required internal standards. Note that this will be across different geographical Regulator requirements
  • Design, implement and monitor internal controls within the procurement function. Identify control gaps to enhance efficiency, accuracy and effectiveness of procurement processes
  • Conduct Quality Assurance (QA) detective controls and provide insight and feedback from QA to the Procurement team (and other M&G commercial functions where appropriate) to improve standards across the team
  • Develop and deliver training programmes to enhance risk awareness and promote a culture of risk management within the Procurement team. Provide support and guidance to procurement professionals on risk related matters
  • Own the all Procurement documentation and literature, including base contracts, guidance notes, contract signing delegated authority documentation and ownership of the Procurement library. Ensure that all documentation is reviewed and updated on a regular basis
  • Provide Reporting and communication on risk and control activity, including key risk indicators, control effectiveness and compliance status. Analyse data and trends to identify areas for improvement and recommend appropriate actions to enhance procurement processes and controls
  • Own business relationships with key second line risk functions such as third party risk, legal, financial crime, supply chain security, data privacy, ESG risk, reputational risk, ensuring that there is a good partnership between Procurement and Procurement processes and controls take into account the requirements of the second line risk areas
  • Represent Procurement processes and controls interest to relevant programmes requiring Procurement input
  • Decision making

  • This role operates with a high level of autonomy and is fully accountable for the delivery of work assignments and projects on time, within budget and to expectations in terms of quality, deliverables and outcomes.
  • Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Educational Qualification

    Knowledge & Skills:

  • Confidence & excellent communication
  • Proven experience in risk management, internal controls, preferably in a procurement environment
  • Familiarity with relevant laws, regulation and industry standards
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess risks and develop effective mitigation strategies
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and demonstrable experience in collaboration with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
  • Resilience and agility to cope with change and react to challenges in equal measure, applying a positive focus
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently, prioritising tasks and meet deadlines
  • Able to manage multiple projects and apply problem solving skills.
  • Good Knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel, PowerBI. Knowledge of Oracle fusion and MetricStream would be an advantage
  • Educational Qualification:

  • Educated to degree level in a financial, business or similar related subject, supported by an appropriate professional qualification, such as CIPS or equivalent.
