JobdescriptionAssigns and directs the work and activities of subordinatestaff. Responsiblefor subordinates adherence to department safety rules andcompliancewithFederal Railroad Administrationregulations.
Manages monitors coordinates and controls all aspects of vehiclemaintenanceprogramsprocesses resources and activities relating to regular and extraworkprojects.
Monitors quality ofwork. Independentlyperforms varied and complex inspection and diagnosticwork. Reads andinterprets schematics service and safety manuals includingschematicsymbolselectrical drawings and circuitoperations.
Oversees and participates in vehiclemaintenance.
Reports on failures ofcomponents. Assuresquality control using SMART s Maintenance Information System (MIS)tomaintain properrecords and generatereports. Activelyreviews and analyzes maintenance activity reports for trends inrepairsequipmentfailures and parts usage; to determine if corrective action isneeded. May performVehicle Technician duties asnecessary.

Assignsspecific tasks to subordinate staff using the SMART work ordersystemincludingwithdrawal of parts and materials from the storeroom and checkstasksuponcompletion foraccuracy of work and closure of workorders.

Activelysupports ongoing skill building for Vehicle MaintenanceTechniciansbyprovidingperiodicclassroom training for certification and skillsenhancement.
Prepares issues and collects daily operationaldocuments. Reviewsand evaluates work and makes effective suggestions andrecommendations.
Safely operates train sets and other vehicles in the course ofperformingassignedduties.
References parts catalogs and other sources to determine thecorrect parts forspecificapplications.
References manufacturer schematics (manual and online) to resolvemaintenanceissues.
May be assigned Storeroom Supervisorduties. Maintainswork area in a clean and orderlyfashion. Safelyoperates equipment.
Defines and Coordinates all equipment movements inside theOperationMaintenanceFacilitylimits. Performsother related duties asrequired.


QualificationsSkills Knowledge andAbilitiesMinimumQualifications:
