What Youll Be Doing:

• Provide technical leadership and oversight for mainframe-to-cloud migration initiatives, ensuring architectural decisions align with modern best practices and cloud-native principles.
• Mentor development teams on mainframe technologies, modern programming paradigms, and cloud architecture.
• Analyse existing mainframe applications and develop modernization strategies that balance business needs, technical debt, and risk.
• Drive product strategy and roadmap for mainframe modernization tooling and automation.
• Review and validate migration approaches, tools, and methodologies to ensure optimal outcomes.
• Identify potential risks and challenges early in the modernization process and develop mitigation strategies.
• Guide teams through complex technical decisions regarding code conversion, data migration, and integration patterns.
• Guide the development of automated testing tools specific to modernization scenarios.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to implement and improve code conversion algorithms.
• Define patterns for handling complex mainframe features like CICS, DB2, and IMS in modern architectures.
• Establish best practices and standards for modernization projects, including testing strategies and quality assurance.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define success criteria and ensure business continuity during migration.
• Document architectural decisions, patterns, and lessons learned to create a knowledge base for future projects.

Who you are:

• 10+ years of experience in mainframe technologies (COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, IMS) with 5+ years of hands-on experience in mainframe modernization projects, including code conversion to Java/C#.
• Deep understanding of cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) and cloud-native architectures.
• Strong expertise in modern programming languages (Java/C#) and frameworks.
• Experience with mainframe modernization tools and automated conversion technologies.
• Proven track record of successfully completing large-scale mainframe migration projects.
• Strong understanding of integration patterns and middleware technologies.
• Experience with multiple mainframe modernization approaches (rehost, replatform, refactor, replace).
• Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with microservices architecture and domain-driven design with background in performance optimization and scalability.
• Certification in relevant cloud platforms or technologies.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities; excellent communication skills with ability to explain complex technical concepts to various audiences.
• Proven mentoring and leadership capabilities.
• Strong documentation and technical writing skills.
• Experience in risk management and mitigation strategies.
