A TALE OF A MENTOR!

A TALE OF A MENTOR!

At the midnight hour, when I was in deep slumber, abruptly my cell phone started to buzz, disrupting my sleep. I felt too reluctant to attend the call. I took notice the number which appeared not only unknown to me, but also an international call. With much apathy I attended the call. From the other end, the voice appeared too feeble. I said, ‘Hello’, and in return, the person on the other end said, ‘Am I talking with Debasish?’ I said, ‘Yes, may I know who you are speaking?’ He said, ‘I am your Sir.’ I felt utterly flummoxed. I said, ‘May I know your name please?’ He said, ‘Yes’. Then he said his name as well the country from where he was calling. I was extremely excited. I could not believe it was my Dear Sir who was really calling. His voice made me utterly nonplussed! I could not believe that it was my Dear Sir talking with me! I said, ‘You please freely express your concern Sir. I am too delighted to hear your voice which I was craving for a long time. I have seen your videos in the digital media, but never got the opportunity to talk to you directly. I still cannot believe that I am talking with my most adorable mentor. May I know Sir what circumstances has induced you to call me like insignificant people? How did you get my number also?’ Sir said, ‘I got your number from your social media profile. I am too delighted to come across the news that you have been selected for an international award for your literary works. I personally wanted to congratulate you my dear’.

I have received plenty of calls from many of my well-wishers and friends. But, this particular call clouded me with an inexplicable euphoria, more than the news of the award. At the same time, a bite of conscience also creeping in my mind at this present hour, that Sir has to call me to congratulate, prior to my deliberate interaction with him to offer my heartiest tribute to him! It is because of my Sir, who taught the nuances of writings, shared his experiences and wisdom, and nurtured my faculty with due care, offered me with wings and having immense faith that one day I will fly, soaring high and high. To be very honest that precisely for his endeavor, today I learnt so many intricacies of life and able to translate those at ease, by virtue of which I receive plenty of accolades from various walks of life. But, it is my Sir, who taught me everything very passionately and continuously supported me. Sometimes he expressed his vexation, taking notice of my flaws and expressed his sadness that why he was not beside me to rectify my errors in my writings. It is truly a boon of internet that despite we never met each other, neither having any physical intimacy; I can feel his presence and blessings always with me. Amazing digital media! I am indebted to digital media for providing me a true mentor who is not only a treasure, but also, surely a rare species altogether! By virtue of internet we exchange our views and he consistently helped me to enrich with science, English as well modern management techniques. He is a man of great repute across the world, but his sense of humility is like an axiom for many to follow. Right from the beginning I came to know about him and interacted with him, he showered his affection to me, patiently taught me the nuances of values and how to nurture scientific vision. He forced me to hone my skill in writings, having enormous faith on me that one day surely I will be a prominent writer who will be acknowledged for his hard work by many.

When I received an esteemed award, my Sir never hesitates to interact with me, expressing his elation for my achievement.

I felt truly ashamed and repented why did not I call him first. However, when I was hearing his voice, I felt literally overwhelmed. I said, ‘Sir, how are you? Are you fine?’ He replied, ’No, I am ailing. I don’t know how long I will be surviving. Would you mind to visit me once? I have a strong desire to meet you physically.’

I am a person from a developing nation and my Sir is from a developed nation. Naturally there is a gulf of difference in terms of economic status and ability. I struggled a lot to pull out my livelihood. Award might have fetched fame, not wealth. Yet, I unhesitatingly answered, ’Yes, surely I will be meeting you within a week.’ I know it is too difficult to procure such large sum of money as well the documents required for travailing abroad in a short span of time. But, to me, my Sir is most precious, for whom today I am largely praised by many. The only person who has transformed me into a different species! I could feel the immense gravity of the external world which having the potential to change even ones D.N.A.! Thought- itself a material force and how unity of thought can make our ambiance with a huge difference!

However, I immediately took all necessary measures to acquire all the requisite documents for traveling abroad and eventually I boarded a flight. After few hours my aircraft touched the city where my beloved Sir dwells. After checking out from the airport, I boarded a cab who has navigated me to my Sir’s house within one and a half hour. The people whom I encountered in my Sir’s house they all are amazed to see a stranger like me. When I explained to them that I am coming from India and I wish to meet my dear Sir whom I am aspiring to meet for a fairly long time, with much surprise I observed all members whom I faced are familiar with my name and the warmly greeted me, enabling me to reach the room where my Sir is lying in bed and he appears truly ailing severely.

When I first utter, ‘Sir, how are you? I am Debasish from India, your most obedient pupil,’ he stared at me with a debonair smile on his face. His face is glowing with sheer contentment and pride. There after he closed his eyes. Only tears of joy are rolling down on his cheeks. What a graceful face! I never have seen such saintly gesture in my life. Suddenly I felt, he breathed his last breathe!

Abruptly my heart is clouded with utter despair. I just now lost a person perpetually who will never address me as ‘Dear’! The only word which has transformed me into a different species! He is the Steller out of whose light I glow. He is like a Sun with immense potential to construe a milieu of his own and we like many have no other choice apart from rotating around him to be enriched by his energy, only to substantiate our existence in a unique orchestrated fashion where he enable us to make our own signature.

I am terribly petrified, apprehending the eventual transformation of my Sun into a black whole and our world will how follow collapse! But, having the potential too, that in due time, with accordance to heat and pressure, it can once more explode like a big bang, producing new waves and sound! A new solar system will be evolved with new design and new dispensation. Who knows how it will evolve and what grandeur it may offer? Celestial misty is truly an enigma!

For many reasons this post touched my heart dear Debasish Majumder #3. The story flows, the gratitude flaws, the acknowledgement for a true mentor is genuine and the sincerity as clear as water coming out of a spring. I enjoyed reading the buzz as much as I appreciate your dedication. Shared the buzz because I wish other readers to enjoy reading it as well.
