Busting the critical mobile application development myths of 2023

Mobile application development is a vast domain. This vastness in the domain leads to various misconceptions or myths among entrepreneurs. And, from the mobile app development companies’ point of view who are focusing on bringing the lead in the most transparent manner, sharing the right knowledge stays an important part. Entrepreneurs sometimes decide their complete strategies according to these myths. So, here are the correct answers for the common myths associated with the mobile app development industry entrepreneurs have in their minds.

Busting the critical mobile application development myths of 2023  - BE

1. Website development is always more expensive than mobile app development

Some entrepreneurs believe that website development is always a vaster project than mobile app development. However, this is not right. It’s a myth because the budget for mobile app development and website app development depends upon the complexities involved in them. For example, a mobile app like Paytm will definitely cost you more than a simple blogging website built on PHP. It is very much true that building a blogging website might require you just one PHP developer with lower costs. Whereas building a mobile app like Paytm will take months, and there would be so many team members associated with the project, from designers to developers and business analysts. According to Yourstory, “an app like Ola or Uber can be built within $ 25000,” which is definitely more than building a static website.

2. Cross Platform app development is just copied pasting the code

Another misconception among entrepreneurs is that they believe cross platform app development is just copy-pasting of code. The code that is written for Android will be copied to the iOS platform. However, it is not the case. Android app development is different from iOS app development. You can use Java or Kotlin to build Android apps, whereas you will require Swift-like technologies to build for iOS. The written code will be completely different in the different languages, and you must hire people from specific technology domains. According to Forbes, “Each solution has its own pluses and minuses.” For cross platform app development, you will have to use React Native or Flutter technologies that again have different integration on iOS and Android platforms.

3. Mobile Applications do not require promotion

Some entrepreneurs who are not aware of the technical side of Digital marketing believe that once an app is live, there is no need to invest in the marketing part. However, this is completely wrong. Every product, whether a mobile app or a car, requires a strong marketing strategy to make it reach the masses. According to the Times of India, the leading newspaper, “With the use of relevant channels and engaging storytelling, brands can catch the eyes of the audience.” So, mobile apps do require social media presence, and search engine optimization to improve the presence among the audience.

4. Features and Functionalities are the only criteria for success

Some entrepreneurs believe that focusing on super app development by adding as many features & functionalities as possible will deliver them success. But a poor user experience will always increase the bounce rate of your app. Super apps are apps with multiple mini apps inside them. WeChat is a great example of a super app. As per Fleximize, “WeChat lets users do everything you’d expect it to – instant messaging, sharing life events and chatting to family members.” The user experience of the app is the reason why it is adopted throughout China and beyond. Loading features in your app is never the wrong idea. But ensure that your app is easy to navigate and delivers a smooth experience.

5. Native app development is always best

Another misconception among entrepreneurs is that Native app development is always the right choice. Whether it is Native app development or Hybrid app development, they have their own pros and cons. A native app can be heavy on low-end smartphones, whereas a cross-platform app working on the HTML 5 technology might be lighter in size, giving you the same experience as a Native. Meta Platforms with React Native page comments “React Native lets you create truly native apps and doesn’t compromise your users’ experiences.” The quoted text clearly repents that cross-platform app development allows developers to achieve the same level of user experience as Native apps.

Wrapping up

Clearing the above misconception about mobile app development in 2023 was important to clear among Entrepreneurs. Misconception results in a change of strategies. Strategies that are not even on the correct factors. Once the knowledge and details related to mobile app development are right, the approach to building them will be right too. Else, misconception can lead to irrelevant investments that will not yield any results for the companies.
