Women Women This post is a dedication to all women and of course this is also a dedication to the spirit of all such great men who gives those multitasking women a helping hand whenever needed.

When it comes to challenging situations, women are able to use their inner strength effectively. In trying times they tend to work in the best possible manner in line with the interests of the entire household (or team) they are part and parcel of.I have been reading a lot about many a women struggling to get back to the main stream at work after taking a break for various compelling reasons. Also there are several articles written already about less women reaching there on top. What is even more sad is that sometimes they do not get a fair chance.Given an opportunity, women could do so well and rightly so in all spheres of life., Have you thought about  why do women vanish as they move up the career ladder?

Organizations need to harness and capitalize on the valuable women power and make sure that they support them and provide them with a conducive working atmosphere incorporating the advances of technological development.

Let us check on what could be done by Organizations to support women power?  (Or Creating a climate of comfort for women to take up MORE leadership roles?)

#Mentor ship programs:

4298f099.jpgA senior professional could take women under his/her wing & evaluate their performance in job periodically. More than that they could take appropriate measures to make sure that talent is highlighted and brought to the notice of the decision makers.

As far as possible provide them flexible working hours/working from home options.(Of course many organizations have taken the right path already in this direction but a lot more could be done)

Organizations should recruit as many talented women as possible so that more of a critical mass of women (greater gender balance) is available among the workforce creating a climate of comfort for women

#Helping them to achieve work-life balance,This is the biggest challenge for any working women.

But women possess this innate ability to maintain a good balance and all that is required is a little more support. So helping them in finding the perfect balance between a demanding professional life and an equally demanding personal life is what matters the most.

Sheryl Sandberg couldn't be more accurate in her observation when she wrote....

"Any coalition of support must also include men, many of whom care about gender inequality as much as women do"

What are some of the steps that women should take?

A report earlier appeared in the business Insider analyses this topic ..Why Women Vanish As They Move Up The Career Ladder?

"The answer to why women vanish in such large numbers as they move up the corporate ladder — and why this does not seem to change over time — is obviously complex. There are many forces at work that cause this to happen. They can be put into several categories for conceptual clarity, though they are highly interrelated. We think the categories are well summarized by the statements women themselves would make about why they’re vanishing from the corporate ladder:"I don’t want the role.""I can’t succeed in the role.""I can’t have the role."

The Report adds further........

9af7ea32.jpg

"Many women have not built the same level of personal networks needed to succeed in many organizations that men have. These networks can provide great career leverage, including receiving ongoing development help from a mentor, getting an early warning from the network about upcoming advancement opportunities, and even being identified and sponsored for those opportunities. Success will come harder if women aren't establishing the networks and receiving these benefits to the same degree that men have".

"For what is s done or learned by one class of women becomes, by virtue of their common womanhood, the property of all women"....Elizabeth Blackwell, first female physician in the United States

May be some of you could share with us about the challenges you've faced as a working women? Do you agree that creating a climate of comfort for women would help in achieving greater gender balance enabling also more women to take up leadership roles?

Randy Keho: Thanks for sharing your observation...Agree that major part of the research about women working in the tech sector (engineering as you pointed out) would have had some influence on this article. However those were not the only points taken into consideration while posting this article,,,I was fortunate to get direct input from other sectors and segments and even from working women directly which has positively influenced this..Thanks for adding in and appreciate your observation.

It's a great post my friend, ! I have shared it into 3 more hives for greater distrbution. Buzz on!

Perhaps, you should have noted from the start that you were talking about women in engineering. It wasn't alluded to until the "fine print" at the conclusion to this post. Instead, you chose to generalize, which is not a best practice. You also published this post in the women's fashion hive? If I were a women, I'd be highly offended. Personally, I don't think women need special compensation. They're doing quite well on their own merit.

Second comment reported then deleted (not by me): #11 It would be wonderful @Karen Anne Kramer ~ CNN Women Leaders 2015 if you posted a few of your articles you said were published, I believe you said 90? I'm sure others would love to read them too :) Where do you mentor students? You also said you work with Vets, where do you do this as well? I find this all intriguing. Would love to know more about your work, your one busy lady.

I will post them in the order I posted them originally . Thank you very much! First comment: @Karen Anne Kramer ~ CNN Women Leaders 2015, Did you take into consideration that possibly the author of this buzz could be from another Country (I believe India, he can correct me if I'm wrong) and what he wrote could be in part due to his own cultural views and perspective. I try to keep this in mind when I read articles since this is a global network. I try to stay clear of using broad statements such as the one you did, "If they can't do it for themselves they should stop having kids." There are many women who lose a husband to death and may have 5 children to worry about as one example. Life is not black and white. I thought @Prakashan B.V made very valid points. I love the idea of more workplaces offering work from home jobs or even telecommute jobs. This can benefit both men and women. There are many men & women who are IT gurus and can work remotely from any location. I'd love to see more workplaces hiring these people as employee's, not contractors and allow them to work from home. I could think of many examples of Corporations that *could* train then offer work from home jobs. I realize there are jobs available in that sector but not enough. Our work climate really does need to change.

Thanks for expounding , and your right- the situation is far from ideal in many places around the world, including the US. Before I had my first child they granted me 12 weeks to be at home with him. When he was 5 weeks old my supervisor called and told me they needed me back the next week. I told her that wasn't enough time to make arrangements for a sitter etc.. she went on to say if I did not come back they would have to replace me.

Lisa Gallagher: Thanks for reinforcing your opinion based on your own experiences (again). Thanks for validating one aspect which sometimes at some part of the world still exists as a gap(also called as gender inequality)..Appreciate that. While ideal situation should have been different, the fact of the matter is that ideal situation still exists as a theoretical situation only at some part of the world. Agree that there are places where this may not exist(gap) like someone might want to point out.But still unfortunately the situation is not perfect everywhere!..So we leave that aspect aside.. I would request my friends here to also read this.. .https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/do-you-want-become-happier-working-parent-prakashan-b-v?trk=mp-reader-card

Great topic and you touched on some great key points. When I worked in HealthCare I was able to apply for and work under mentors. I was a Medical Assistant out of HS and began working as a Nurse's Aide. After 2 years I wanted more and felt I had what it took to not only learn the new job well but also do it well. I began job training for Respiratory Therapy. We had classroom time and floor time with the Respiratory Therapists for 6 months. We had to pass 6 written tests and many hands on tests before we were allowed to work independently. Our Therapists went to College for 2 years and of course the few of us who were lucky enough to get hired did not. I went to a Vocational School for my Medical Assisting degree. I learned so much working as a Respiratory Tech thanks to my mentors. I don't think hospitals allow these types of programs anymore. Our hospital implemented the program because it was cost effective. Obviously, we didn't make as much as the Therapists they hired. There were only a few jobs we were not allowed to perform. Our department eventually opened up a Cardiac Lab and I transferred to that. Again, I had to learn a new job and I learned it fast. We did EKG's, Stress Testing, Holter Monitors, had to become certified in reading basic cardiac arrhythmias and we also typed reports for 6 Cardiologists. After we moved I decided to stay at home with my kids and later in the years I became my husband's second hand for his business. I wish there were more work from home jobs because many women along with men learn fast and it would be conducive for many of us to work from home. I'm not sure what the answer is. I think mentoring programs should be re-evaluated by many workplaces. Sorry this was so long.
