Personal Branding, Story Telling and Beyond?
"What is your personal brand statement"? This was the question !(Link at the end).
When we first posted this as part of a global challenge some time back, we had very interesting responses. So let me explain why this question is very relevant. As much as we needed to have objectives and goals we also need to have a clear personal brand statement.
In fact #personalbrandstatement is needed to convey to the whole world in the shortest period of time in the best possible manner what one is all about,And that should be in line with our objectives (short and long term goals too) or even integrated with the higher purposes we all have for life too. This should as well motivate us to work towards it.
Mr. John White(link below*) made this huge topic look much much simpler with his statement." A personal brand statement is a vision of how you see yourself and your unique skill set. It is a bold statement of the value you can bring to the table in a business relationship. The brand you put out to the world reflects your reputation and image as an expert within your sphere of influence. Your brand statement should be a consistent message that you can project across all of your social media and digital channels".
Given this background on the relevance of personal branding It was quite natural for me to start reading the recently published book titled "Personal Branding, Storytelling and Beyond" by Dr. Amit Nagpal and Dr.Prakash Hindustani. This well crafted book is a comprehensive guide to personal branding which is going to be relevant for all. What makes this book stand apart is the way they simplified the whole procedure of assisting the reader in building up his /her personal branding through various measures which are very relevant in today's digitally connected world where social media can't be ignored. To put it simply the book is an empowerment tool that is going to be very useful.
Being a management consultant, (operating in a relatively traditional industry) what I liked the most about this book is the fact that even the book guides one to align successfully his/her personal brand with that of the organization one is part of. Good work done Dr. Amit Nagpal and Dr.Prakash Hindustani.
