Plastic Water Bottle: Health Hazard?: What Should We Do?

Plastic Water Bottle: Health Hazard?: What Should We Do?
As we know, plastic water bottles are being used globally, but the use of these bottles may cause severe health hazards to the human body and the environment.
We will understand here how these bottles may pose a threat to our bodies. why they are still being used. What are the alternatives for these bottles, and what precautions should we take while using them to get sustainable alternative solutions?
Possible health hazards due to the use of plastic water bottles:
1. One liter of water in a single-use plastic bottle may contain a few lac nanoparticles (less than 1 micrometer in size) of plastic. When we drink this water, these nanoparticles are consumed by us. These tiny particles can penetrate the human body.
2. These tiny particles may pose potential risks to many parts of the body, including the brain and heart. It may be the reason for developing cancer as well. Moreover, nanoplastic particles may be transferred through the placenta to unborn babies.
3. It is also studied that the friction of screwing and unscrewing such water bottles produces microplastic particles, which are dissolved in the filled water and ultimately go into our bodies by drinking.
4. It is possible that a small percentage of plastic comes from the source of water and a large percentage of plastic comes from the processing unit of the water plant.
5. It is likely to be confirmed if the same source of water is filled in glass bottles and plastic bottles. Plastic contamination is found more in later ones.
Comments:-
In addition, most of the used water bottles ultimately go to landfills or oceans and cause pollution in the environment.
The Bottled Water Association and scientists have different views. Even all scientists do not agree with the consequences of nanoplastic hazards.
More studies and research are required, and it is going on to confirm the intensity of possible hazards.
We use plastic everywhere due to its attractive features (light weight, durability, cheapness, sustainability, etc.).
Discarding plastic completely is not possible soon due to the unavailability of cheap and sustainable alternatives.
We hope that we will get some solutions in due course.
My idea is to spread awareness to the general public, not create any scary situations.
Please learn here about different kinds of plastic.
1. PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate): thin and clear, used in single-use water bottles. may not be suitable for reuse and reheating.
2. HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene): thick, used in reusable plastic bottles.
3. PVC (Poly Vinyl Chloride): commercial-grade plastic.
5. PP (Polypropylene): hard plastic, considered a safer side
6. PS (polystyrene): may be harmful.
7. Other (usually polycarbonate) products may contain BPA (bisphenol A); avoid them; they may cause serious health hazards.
⦁ Suggestions:-
⦁  for single-use plastic water bottles:
i. should be kept in a cool and dry place to avoid plastic degradation. Moisture and sunlight (at high temperatures) may degrade the plastic soon.
ii. must ensure to use well before expiry.
iii. Crush the bottle after a single use to avoid any misuse.
⦁ Use reusable plastic bottles rather than single-use plastic. (Single-use plastic bottles are considered more prone to health hazards.)
⦁  Consume the water from stainless steel containers or glass as often as possible.
⦁  Reduce the consumption of single-use plastic water bottles. ⦁   Some of the materials (glass, ceramic, paper, stainless steel, aluminum, plants, plant-based fiber, silicone, etc.) may be an alternative to plastic bottles.
Request: I am open to suggestions, appreciation, and criticism to improve my ideas.
