We are Really Lucky

We are Really Lucky

Luck often doesn't follow hard work
The other day I read a well crafted article on luck. I am thinking about luck and no luck. It is often said that "Luck favors those who deserves it". Is it that simple? We often work hard. We think that it would produce fruits of lucks. Sometimes it works. But not always. And not for all. Often it never work for many.

Definition of luck is different to people of different economic status

Think about the poorest strata of the world population. Do they get lucky by working hard? They work for hours just to feed themselves. Sometimes their hard work can't even get them enough money to buy food and build a basic shelter. Many of them remain starved for days and nights. Many of them sleep under the trees. Many of them make their home on the foot paths of the city.

Luck is somewhat bounded by the socio-economic status

Do luck favors the poor? Their lives remain in the dark forever, generation after generation. How do you reason these facts of hard truths? They and their fortune are bounded by the social and financial disharmony.

We are really lucky that we have food, clothes and a home to live

We are really lucky that we get food, clothes and we have a home to live. We get opportunity to study and work, send our children to school. We have extra-curricular activities. We have an additional life beside our profession. We enjoy reading and writing. We use the Internet. We can write and exchange our views with our Internet friends.

It is my humble thought about lucky and unlucky. By beBee standard, it may be considered as "anti-honey". Will you write a comment on an "anti-honey"?

Acknowledgement: This very SHORT buzz is inspired by a recent buzz of my beBee friend and beBee Ambassador Dr. Ali Anani.

Thanks a lot Lada 🏡 Prkic for your time to join and support my points. In fact luck is more a casual than a serious word we often use everyday. When we say "Best of luck" we give only best wishes. When we say, "Hard luck", we only console ourselves. A little bit of success can over rule all bad lucks. It is true that hard work may sometimes yield that success.

Personally, I don't like the quote, "Luck favours those who deserve it." How to explain it to people who are born poor in extremely poor countries, with no opportunities for education, and being exploited in many ways? Is this a bad luck or karma? As you said, luck is also determined by the socio-economic status.

That is true Pascal Derrien, I also don't like the terms "honey" and "buzz". Thanks for your comment which helps to give a meaning to my post.

I don't use the term Honey buzz etc..either so I would not worry about it with a bit of luck it will go unnoticed :-) I don't know about luck sometimes but not always unlucky events turn to be a gift in disguise :-)

Thanks a lot @Harvey Lloyd for your valuable time to write a detailed comment. You have explained my points with the phrase "generational poverty". It requires a great motivation and strong will power to work hard and overcome those barriers of "generational poverty". Whether we believe it or not, luck is a word we often over use, by wishing someone "Wish you good luck". I always feel that we are lucky that we can exchange views and can think not only to improve our lives but also to help others.

Thanks a lot Ali 🐝 Anani, Brand Ambassador @beBee for your insights. I agree that without hard work nothing improves. when success knocks at the door following hard work, we say "we are lucky". But, for the poor, It is more difficult to get that rarer gift called luck even after putting a heavy dose of hard work.

Thank you so much Laurent Boscherini for your insights. Luck is a myth which may be changed by hard work. There is no doubt about it. Serendipity is another mystery followed by luck.

Luck is one of those words Ali 🐝 Anani, Brand Ambassador @beBee, it depends on the one using the word, or perspective the word is applied. I agree with mystery of such unbalanced luck when we look at the world and ourselves, as @Debesh Chundhury discusses here. When we observe success in others we tend to see the tip of the finish and not the serendipity that happened over time to lead to that success. So we say they are lucky. Given two equal starting points why does one end up in poverty another middle class. This is a question that ponder quite often. I always come to the same answer. Success emanates from serving each other, not self. My job is to make my customer, boss and others successful while i am employed. Certainly i should look after myself but my job is to make the boss successful. There is a book called generational poverty that discusses that poverty may be an handed down habit that the cycle is difficult to break. This only helped me understand the fundamentals, it didn't help me understand the lack of motivation for improving ones circumstances. I am not a luck or coincidence person. I do believe that when you work in a certain area and distinguish yourself serendipity happens.

To inspire such the writing of such a lovely buzz is an honor for me. I invite Harvey Lloyd for contributing such a quality buzz. It just happened today when I was Googling for my new buzz that I ran on the luck that knocked a researchers' door after years of failure. His luck came accidentally by a passing flock of birds. Luco of great force does not come often to the rich or the poor. It is a rarity that comes after hard work. I believe it is a reward.

Thank you @Debesh Choudhury for sharing your relevant post. Good luck, Bad luck, Superstitions, Myths, Imens, and Irrational beliefs certainly play a role in cultures throughout the world, as a human necessity to understand and explain the mystery of the Serendipity of life. 😉

Thanks Joyce 🐝 Bowen Brand Ambassador @ beBee, so you are not alone in that "un-lucky boat", I also have that "magnet", often weak though, but it attracts lot of "un-luck" and hence creates "anti-honey"
Hell, yea. But I often consider myself to be a magnet for bad luck. This will change for 2018.
