Department Description

The Investment Research Specialist team is based out of two locations - Gurgaon, India and Dalian, China.

The team provides fundamental research support (building financial models, maintaining industry databases, and conducting Industry and company analysis) to all FIL Equity & Credit analysts and select Portfolio Managers.

This allows analyst teams to cover a higher number of stocks/credits, respond faster to corporate developments, dig deeper into investment issues, and manage coverage gaps.

Additionally, the team has Data intelligence capabilities which have allowed FIL Research to build proprietary data series, add an analysis layer over Research IT tools and do custom quant work for analysts and PMs.

The team is also looked upon as a talent nursery for sourcing future Fidelity analysts.

About the role

The role is to provide reliable, relevant, and timely ESG data to FIL analysts.

The job will include data extraction & collation of ESG data from company reports, databases, MSCI/ISS reports and web searches.

Key Responsibilities

  • Extract, collate and manipulate quality ESG data from company reports, databases, MSCI/ISS reports or web searches
  • Do secondary research to gather information about relevant ESG metrics
  • Perform sensecheck on the external data
  • Take up adhoc custom requests from the investment team as needed
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and within the team
Experience and Qualifications Required

Experience and Key Skills

  • 12 years of work experience in financial or business research
  • Good eye for detail in sorting and analysing large amounts of qualitative and quantitative data
  • Basic understanding of financial and ESG terms
  • Proficient in MS Excel and Word
  • Strong communication, presentation skills and good relationship management


  • Database skills

  • Familiarity with financial databases, e.g., Bloomberg, TR Eikon, would be preferable
Education

  • Graduate (B. Com (Hons.)/BBA) or CA Inter or Post
  • Graduate
