Performs the physical or administrative tasks involved in the shipping, receiving, storing, distributing and order fulfilment of merchandise, products, materials, parts, supplies and equipment.

Checks goods received and for distribution against purchase orders or invoices, maintains records of goods and rejects unsatisfactory items. Packages and prepares products and merchandise for final shipment and posts weights and shipping charges. Lifts heavy items and may operate a forklift. Prepares and maintains records of merchandise shipped. Reviews customer orders, examines, stocks and distributes merchandise, products and materials in inventory warehouses, distribution centers or manufacturing lines.

The Warehouse and Materials Handling Administrator contributes to the effective management of the warehouse by updating warehouse databases and ensuring accurate warehouse documentation.

This position ensures the proper handling and storage of materials and products in the warehouse which may include operating a forklift truck.


Key Roles and Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for receiving, processing, filing, archiving and retrieval of all warehouse documents.
  • Ensure that relevant information kept is accurate, timeous and properly classified.
  • Creates documentation relating to stock count processes and may be required to assist with stock counts.
  • Update relevant databases and provide management reports as required.
  • Maintain awareness of Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality legislation and adhere to company policies in this regard.
  • Required to escalate issues and problems.
  • Execute the inbound, picking, packing and outbound processes within a warehouse.
  • Ensure that goods received and dispatched are authenticated and accurate records are processed and escalate any discrepancies.
  • Process stock receipts, taking records and documenting the details of all orders.
  • Assist with general duties in the warehouse.

Knowledge, skills and attributes:


  • Familiar with Excel, Word and data entry programs
  • Knowledge of various warehouse machinery and equipment
  • Display client commitment and client service orientation
  • Good attention to detail
  • Good communication and organisation skills
  • Understanding of health, safety and environmental regulations

Academic Qualifications and Certifications:


  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification
  • Certificate in warehousing operations
