The restaurant captain will oversee the smooth operation of the dining area and provide excellent customer service to guests.

Here are some key responsibilities and duties of the restaurant captain:

Supervising the dining room:
The captain is responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of the dining room staff.

This includes assigning sections to servers, ensuring tables are set up properly, and maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and organization.


Guest management:
The captain plays a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service.

They greet guests, escort them to their tables, and ensure that their needs and preferences are met throughout their dining experience.

This involves anticipating guest requirements, addressing any concerns or complaints, and ensuring overall guest satisfaction.

Training and mentoring:
Captains often assist in training new servers and providing ongoing guidance to the staff.

They help maintain a professional and efficient service culture by enforcing restaurant policies, training staff on service standards, and promoting teamwork among the dining room staff.


Order coordination:

The captain communicates with the kitchen staff to ensure that orders are prepared correctly and delivered to the appropriate tables in a timely manner.

They coordinate with the kitchen team to ensure a smooth flow of food service and manage any special requests or dietary restrictions from guests.


Upselling and menu knowledge:
A restaurant captain should have a thorough understanding of the menu, including ingredients, preparation methods, and flavor profiles. They can recommend menu items, suggest wine pairings, and effectively upsell to enhance the dining experience and increase revenue.

Handling payments:
The captain may be responsible for processing guest payments, ensuring accuracy, and handling cash or credit card transactions.

They may also assist in closing the dining room at the end of the shift, tallying receipts, and preparing the necessary reports for management.


Reservations and event management:

Depending on the establishment, captains may be involved in managing reservations, organizing special events, and coordinating private dining experiences.

Requirements:


  • Proven work experience as a Restaurant Manager, Restaurant General Manager, Hospitality Manager or similar role
  • Proven customer service experience as a manager
  • Extensive food and beverage (F&B) knowledge, with ability to remember and recall ingredients and dishes to inform customers and wait staff
  • Familiarity with restaurant management software
  • Strong leadership, motivational and people skills

Salary:
₹18, ₹22,000.00 per month
