Description

Informix Database DBA on HP UX, AIX & Linux.

The job includes working with the various technology teams, vendors, and management of new hardware and operating systems infrastructure.

The Engineer will be responsible for the installation, configuration and implementation of complex systems for multiple projects.

Specific responsibilities include:

Architect, design and implement complex system configurations at an expert level in demanding customer environments.
Directly interact with crossfunctional teams and solution architects to identify, develop, and obtain complete information for solutions.
Plan and execute technical program including developing, validating, executing, and delegating project technical processes and procedures. Serve as escalation point for technical project issues.

Qualifications
Work Experience: 6Yrs - 12Yrs

Informix 11.x/12.x/14.x RDBMS Database Administration

ITIL and Informix Certification is a must.

Responsible for ensuring availability and performance of the databases that support the system,

To proactively monitor the database systems to ensure secure services with minimum downtime,

Responsible for troubleshooting and problem solving of SQL queries,

Responsible for improvement and maintenance of the databases to include rollout and upgrades,

Responsible for implementation and release of database changes according to agreed timescales and costs.

Database Cloning using DBExport/DBImport utilities.

Knowledge & implementation experience of High availability (HADR/RSS/ Enterprise replication)

Database upgrade

Database Backup & Restore using ontape utilities

Perform Informix installation on different operating systems.

Knowledge on Connection manager is a plus.

Monitor Alert Log and resolve the issues

Resolve Performance issues by working with cross platform teams

Tune databases as required to ensure optimal performance and response time.

Plan and manage space allocations. Use raw devices for space allocation.

Gather statistics on database usage.

Incorporate and maintain database security procedures

Ability to write UNIX scripts to set up automated alerts and reporting

Deliver timely and quality response to service requests

Perform system and database troubleshooting and problem resolution

Provide technical guidance to Applications Developers.

Provide on-call support on rotational basis.

Independent, good problem solving skills and able to work under pressure.

Experience in query tuning, DB performance tuning (DB/OS level optimization).

Additional Experience of managing multiple RDBMS technologies like SQL/Oracle/PostgreSQL/MySQL

Extensive experience in aspects of database administration including installation, building and implementing backup and disaster recovery strategies and user administration.

Working experience in building and implementing migrating strategies from lower version to higher e.g. Informix 10 to Informix 12

Extensive experience in logical and physical designing of databases

Working experience on shell scripts under Linux/Unix OS

Work with data modeling and development teams to create new databases, and replicate data across platforms

Monitor and manage the databases in different lower-end environments

Other Skills

Strong communications skills and ability to document and present complex designs to a wider audience.
