RSM US LLP is looking for a Tax Associate 2 to join our expanding Real Estate Tax practice in India.

RSM provides services to real estate owners, developers and investors, real estate opportunity funds, hotel companies, homebuilders, and public and private REITS (Real Estate Investment Trusts).

Our people work on key client issues in domestic federal taxation, with a focus on implementing tax strategies that align with the client's business objectives.

This role provides an opportunity to join a high-performing, high-growth team while working with complex clients in the Real Estate industry.

As a Tax Associate 2, you will be responsible for the following job duties that are focused around two core concepts:
your technical & quality expertise, and delivering excellent client service to multiple client accounts:


Responsibilities:


  • Preparing medium complex tax returns: Real estate fund, holding entity and property partnership returns (Form 1065); REIT (Form 1120REIT); and corporate blockers (Form 1120)
  • Preparing state and local tax returns, composite and withholding filings for client in the Real Estate industry
  • Preparing quarterly and annual REIT Testing compliance
  • Meet client, internal and statutory deadlines.
  • Completing tax planning and research regarding specific tax issues
  • Understanding tax regulations and accounting pronouncements
  • Remain up to date on current tax practices and changes in tax law.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Some travel may be required (varies based on location, line of business & client need)

Basic Qualifications:

  • 1+ year of experience in business taxation working for a Big 4 or a large national, regional or local accounting firm in the real estate industry.
  • Experience in U.S. Tax accounting
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
  • Must be eligible to sit for the CPA exam, EA or a licensed JD.
  • Ability to work closely with clients to answer questions or to collect necessary information for tax service requirements.
  • Experience preparing returns.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Accounting
  • CPA, or EA
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with a national or large regional accounting firm
  • Working knowledge of tax code and technical aspects of tax preparation and compliance within the real estate industry
  • Experience in dealing with international tax matters a plus.
  • Experience in dealing with real estate debt matters a plus.
