Description
Essential Job Functions
- Coordinates the requisitions process, issues purchase orders, contracts and other documents vital to the purchasing function.
- Assist with the preparation of bid specifications and other necessary documents related to purchases.
- Assists in the preparation of vendor performance standards and requirements.
- Recommends appropriate vendor depending on cost of purchase, quality of bid specifications, and responsiveness.
- Maintains contact with vendors, obtains information about new products, evaluates vendor performance, and may conduct inspections of vendors.
- Confers with department managers and employees relative to purchasing procedures, purchasing needs, complaints and special problems.
- Coordinates the disposition of surplus property and equipment by auction or other means.
Basic Qualifications
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Four or more years of experience in purchasing
- Experience working with procurement practices, purchasing regulations, etc.
- Experience working with contracts including request for proposals (RFP) and request for information (RFI)
- Experience working with products and services within related market
Other Qualifications
- Good communication skills
- Good analytical and problem solving skills
- Good personal computer and business solutions software skills
- Good negotiating skills to interact with vendors
- Ability to understand financial analysis and implications with regard to contracts and suppliers
