Purpose of Role:

The Group Application Architect is key to the success of the overall EA program and its efforts to develop, maintain and govern the enterprise architecture across the organisation.

The role strengthens the impact of, and provides recommendations on, the solutions, processes, culture that will need to be available and shared consistently to support the business strategies and outcomes including the move to becoming a more streamlined business.

Key Responsibilities:

To develop appropriate strategies and best practice by reviewing business strategic and tactical goals and existing solutions and systems, identify gaps and recommendations on how to remediate.
To collaborate and provide guidance to the broader community by maintaining a view of the current state and recommending continuous improvements to both solutions and their integrations within the organisation and to our customers and suppliers.
To focus on strategy and execution by demonstrating the Application Architect is an enabler of strategy formulation, and as support for innovation, which drives Weir's top and bottom lines.

Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:

Understanding of digital techniques such as design thinking, lean startup, agile delivery, minimum viable product, as well as an understanding of common architecture and development frameworks and methodologies.
Knowledge of business ecosystems, SaaS, infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), SOA, APIs, open data, microservices and eventdriven IT.
