As a User Researcher at Disney+Hotstar, you will collaborate closely with designers, product management, and engineers to shape and innovate the future of entertainment.

Your role will involve conducting a wide range of product and design/user experience (UX) research projects, including generative and evaluative research.

You will contribute to improving efficiency, effectiveness, and other business objectives, making your work diverse and impactful.


About the Team

Design Team

Design is one of the key teams at Disney+ Hotstar. We have 3 major areas of focus - Product Design, UX Research, and System & Standards.

We are a closely-knit team of 18 people at the moment, who work across the spectrum of design from deriving insight from data, designing interfaces and prototypes, and testing with users to motion graphics and illustrations.

As part of the design team embedded in the product vertical, your team is relatively new but has already made a meaningful impact and scaled effectively.

Each user researcher primarily interacts with a specific product POD to ensure that user needs are met in the design of features and flows, going beyond just communicating them to the respective teams.

Staff UXR, Manager - UXR


Key Responsibilities:


  • You will conduct user research on various aspects of products and experiences using methods such as usability studies, projective techniques, and contextual inquiry
  • You will regularly engage with users to understand their needs and pain points
  • You will collect and analyze user behavior through qualitative studies, calllistening, ethnographic studies, surveys, benchmark studies, and online experiments (A/B testing)
  • You will collaborate with Product Designers, Product Managers, Engineers, and other User Experience Researchers (UXRs) to identify research opportunities
  • You will advocate research findings to diverse audiences through written reports, storyboards, and presentations

Skills & Attributes for Success:


  • 24 years of experience as a UX Research Specialist or in a similar role, with weightage given to practical project experience over educational qualifications
  • Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative user research methodologies, including experimental design, surveys, focus groups, inperson and remote usability testing, ethnographic field research, and more
  • Keen interest in UX design processes and methodologies
  • Passion for research and testing, with a desire to collaborate with creative contributors in Agile project teams
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a focus on translating research insights into impactful product experiences, and a proven ability to work within tight timelines and excellent project management skills
  • A portfolio demonstrating complex system research and user testing outcomes for web, desktop, and mobile experiences.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with project stakeholders and teams across different locations and cultures
  • Strong multitasking skills and the ability to connect the dots between multiple projects while aligning with the core product and business values
  • Willingness to work independently and collaboratively, thrive in fastpaced environments with tight deadlines, and efficiently handle highvolume tasks
  • Understanding behavioral analytics and you go by datadriven decisionsExperience working in highpaced product startup environments is preferred
  • Good communication skills to confidently present research findings to various audience types and seniority levels, providing valuable insights that drive tangible value and execution of research and testing outcomes

Preferred Education & Experience:


  • A person who has applied primary research in the consumerfacing product space.
  • Bachelors/Masters degree in Psychology, User Experience, Human-Computer Interaction, Anthropology, Social sciences, or related fields, with significant industry experience
