Position Overview:
The Associate, Accounting & Finance position will assist the Officer, Accounting & Finance at Country Office. Primary responsibilities include assisting in maintaining all aspects of the organization's finances and accounts. The position will have regular interactions with all staff. We expect this position to assist in streamlining the core accounting function of the Country Office. This Position may have to visit State Offices on a periodical basis.


Roles and responsibilities:

  • Review and record transactions in INTACCT accounting software, accurately and in a timely manner at Country Office.
  • Review State Office financial transactions, provide feedback, and build the capacity of the state team in alignment with RTR systems and statutory requirements.
  • Assist the Country Office finance team & coordinate with state offices for monthly closure.
  • Bank reconciliation, Scrutiny of ledger accounts monthly, and accuracy across all aspects of financial transactions with an emphasis on the recording of material expenses under the correct program head.
  • Processing payments within a defined compliance framework and ensuring timely availability of funds for program and operational purposes.
  • Monitoring visits to the state office for review of transactions.
  • Monitoring of INCO's financial transaction data accuracy including accounting for donor management at Intacct and generating the monthly reports as per the requirement of Room to Read.
  • Extend support during various audits viz., statutory, donor audit, internal audit etc., and take corrective action to address audit issues, wherever required.
  • Prepare monthly payable detail i.e., Calculation, Deduction of TDS, Deposit and TDS Return.
  • Assist Officer in deduction, deposit, and filling return of Professional tax.
  • Assist during various regulatory compliances viz., Income Tax Assessment, FCRA etc. by providing necessary detail and documents.
  • Any other job assignments on a need basis to implement accounting and financial guidelines or to meet the reporting requirements.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in commerce or related field (accounting, management, etc.) with 3 years' experience in NGO sector.
  • Experience in working in Global Accounting Software.
  • Prior experience in a fastpaced, growthoriented organization.
  • Verbal and written communication skills in English and English.

Strengths preferred:

  • Strong Accounting Fundamentals.
  • Minimum 3 years of related accounting experience in an International NGO.
  • Flexible attitude towards changing priorities and ability to multitask with an eye for detail.
  • Team player.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationshipbuilding skills.
