Responsibilities:

Carry out extensive literature search on aluminium smelter and advancements in modelbased control strategy, measurements, instrumentation and digitalization.
Develop methods to analyze control strategies and support implementation of control systems. Carry out fundamental calculations on energy balance, mass balance and other relevant aspects of aluminium smelter.
Design and perform measurements/experiment related to aluminium manufacturing process & other associated areas to verify the calculations.
Generate new strategies/ideas for improvement in productivity and energy efficiency; carry out feasibility analysis to develop proof of concept.
Visit and work at production unit to collect data, conduct plant trials and technical interactions with plant teams. Understanding of PLC based controllers and ladder programming to ensure proper interpretation and implementation of control logic. Knowledge of SCADA to support trials and implementation.
Preparation of research proposals, technical reports.
Publication & presentation of research work, filing of IPR.
Participation in domain and group activities.
